Has anyone here ever tried a silk pillowcase or silk sheets? According to what I've researched online they're supposed to soften skin/hair and decrease lines on your face when you wake up. Apparently do a good job of not absorbing skincare products and are multi-seasonal.

I use:
https://www.vmvhypoallergenics.com/collections/shampoo/products/essence-skin-saving-superwash-hair-body-milk-shampoo

It's $35 for the 500ml but the thing lasts me about a year and a half because one or two small pumps work into a huge lather. I also use it as shampoo since it's both a shampoo and body wash combined.

For extra sensitive skin they have this one in a smaller half bottle:
https://www.vmvhypoallergenics.com/collections/shampoo/products/essence-skin-saving-clark-wash-hair-body-big-softie-shampoo

I started Differin recently. It hasn't really caused more acne than I would usually get anyway, and it might have decreased more the frequency of it already. But my face feels so angry in the morning and the day, and I've been visibly peeling a lot after a week or so. I've also been tolerating benzyl peroxide a lot less lately, even though it wouldn't irritate or dry me out much at all before Differin. Salicylic acid face wash is out of the question almost now unless I feel particularly oily and dirty. We're going to make it anon.

Since 2015 I've tried Neutrogena, Cerave, Cetaphil, Benzac, Stridex, Sukin, NO skin care and now I'm using Yeouth products which has worked the best for me so far (Just Vitamin C face wash morning + night and Day/Night Cream with a weekly use of a sukin face mask and a sukin facial scrub).

I'm so over my skin looking bad. The thing is its not even bad enough to go onto prescribed meds, which you know is also a positive. Will go see a dermatologist soon if any of you are unable to help.
Here are also some things i do as well, that still don't help. I change my pillow case every 3 - 5 days, i dry my face with a clean face towel, i don't touch my face much, i have stopped picking scabs, i drink about 8L of water a day and take multi vitamins for the skin. One thing that does work however, is going to the beach. Anytime im on holidays and i go to the beach everyday (no use of sunscreen) and my skin clears up! I do always cleanse and moisturise after getting out of the water however.
My face is also combination skin (oily on the T section and normal everywhere else) and very sensitive, meaning majority of shampoos and every sunscreen i have used has made my face very acne prone.
I did talk to one of my beautician friends and she did say she "thinks" i have this uneven layer on my skin that is used to block all the bad stuff out. Though she has been pretty hopeless at helping me out (she doesn't), could explain my freckles maybe.
Anyways, pic related. Me before washing my face

Fixing sleeping position is less autism than the other two suggestions and is pretty legit when it comes to handling some nasty morning wrinkles and seem to fade out till noon. But the constant physical stress on those areas does some long term damage to the way skin is shaped. Similar to how constant frowning eventually gives way to wrinkles even when no muscle is forced into position.
One thing I forgot to mention when fighting wrinkles are botox injections. When not overdone it can help to delay the onset of wrinkles, especially at naturally occuring areas of the face (forehead, smile lines).
>>14785057
Sounds like atopic dermatitis but if common products don't work even a little bit for you then I suggest visiting a derm.
As far as I understand the issue involves the top most layer of the skin (stratum corneum) not behaving as it should. Usually maximizing moisturization is advised, so using a gentle cleanser or an oil based cleanser, using a humectant such as hyaluronic acid, using anything that contains ceramides, using a moisturizer with urea, and topping it all off with an occlusive. Such heavy routine should be done for the night.
Until the skin is fixed I'd hold off away from exfoliants, but AHA can probably remove some of the topmost flaking Don't touch BHA, it will dry out the skin even more.
And don't listen to this clown >>14785062
>>14785950
>i drink about 8L of water a day
WHY. Are you working in scorching heat outside? Piss is the best indicator for water intake, if it's just slightly yellow then you're drinking enough as is. But my guess is that it's clear as water.
>One thing that does work however, is going to the beach
UV rays can kill off acne bacteria so that's what you're getting. But benzoyl peroxide does that just as well.
>>14786689
Cleanse, dry your face with a towel, apply BHA, wait for that to absorb, moisturize. And if it feels greasy even after some time then you're overapplying it, use less.

>> No.14786882

>>14786689
Also, some people use it for contact exposure, where the exfoliant would be washed off after some time (say 20 minutes). This is usually done for more sensitive skin types. Benzoyl peroxide can be used in the same way as well.

ok I stopped frequenting these threads because I achieved like 95% acne relief with lifestyle changes last year thanks to just following lifestyle changes (using mild cleansers daily, changing pillowsheets every 2-3 days, diet changes, tried benzoyl peroxide briefly) but out of nowhere I just got a huge papule (and couple more forming, both closed) and a couple whiteheads all of a sudden within the last couple weeks which is pretty abnormal to me. My face is otherwise pretty clear so the acne changes were very noticeable and drastic to me.

I'm having trouble trying to figure out what is causing this. Midterm exams? Eating more high-glycemic foods or dairy snacks while studying for said midterms? Changing my facial moisturizer brand from Cerave to Cetaphil?
I am exercising more and I'm not sure if that's actually a negative or a positive because of the sweating combined with my history of *self-diagnosed* eczema which I started getting occasional flares since a year ago (self-diagnosis as in antifungals had no effect, but it was responsive and resolved by corticosteroids; also family history of eczema, though I'm confused on why I started getting it as an adult but whatever)

Medication shampoo with coal tar or salicylic acid is one of the standard treatments for mild psoriasis. Coal tar is not usually preferred because of the odour and staining, dunno where you're getting skin cancer from. Also it depends on where you are getting psoriasis on, e.g. if it's on the body, you need a medium or stronger corticosteroid (betamethasone), but if it's on the face you should just stick with hydrocortisone 1% cream.

If you're not getting any relief within a couple weeks, then just head to a dermatologist. The problems with skin conditions like this is that it can be hard even for healthcare people to diagnose with all the similar symptoms. How do you know for sure it is psoriasis and not a fungal infection or something? One of the worst things you can do is using the wrong treatment on something and end up just masking the symptoms (using a corticosteroid on a fungal infection, it solves the symptoms but the underlying infection is still there)

Bros, I have cystic acne from any food with dairy/ eggs in them, even the smallest portions.
Dermatologists/immunologists/allergists couldn't help me, neither could a gastroenterologist. My country has super shite doctors, so I don't know what to do. I've got a very delicate skin so I try to gently wash it with water 2 times a day, moisturize with cetaphil dermacontrol and apply retinoids at night, but I feel like it's not enough. And can I even get rid of these acne scars? Same shit on the other side too

Winter Skincare. What to do?

I live in a cold, windy and humid place. Winter fucks up my skin and hands. This year I plan to get a humidifier for my room. What about the skin? I'm using a thicker moisturizer during the day and all my hydrating stuff only at night.

Carry around a small bottle of your favorite lotion to re-hydrate your skin during the day. Use a body wash/soap that doesn't dry out your skin. I use Dove white and it's great. Carry around face lotion too. I have a bottle of CeraVe facial moisturizer that I carry around in my bag that I bring to work, and I often use it at least once a day when it's cold out. My grandmother used to apply a lot of lotion to her hands and sleep with gloves on so they wouldn't dry out. There may be something to that.

Sounds like sebaceous filaments. It's impossible to get rid of them. BHA can downregulate sebum production and make SFs diminish in appearance but that can take months of use or even then it's impossible to be certain that such a thing will happen. They are most prominent with oily skin.

I've been using cerave cleanser and moisturizer for several months now and my face is noticeably less dry, all of the flaking is gone. However I still have some acne scarring and discolouration, with what looks like rosacea.

What should I start doing? Looking at adding in an AHA and seeing how that goes but really I have no idea what I'm doing. I feel like every skin care site out there rapidly starts piling on the product recs using pretty nonspecific terms like 'improves smoothness' without explaining how, or why one product does it differently enough to warrant it's usage as well.

Should I just go to a derm and let them take a look and tell me what I need?

i have this, in the same size, but in my chest (between my pecs) and in my back (between my scapulas). So, I just need to use my antidandruff shampoo in my body?
In fact, I think I have a fungal problem in every part of my body, in different sizes, but is there. And I wash everyday but I use cheap products and my skin never seems to improve.
So, now that I have extra money, I want to buy the best products to treat this fungal problem.
Where can I find info about the best antifungal treatment products? or at this point it's better to go to a dermatologist?
