you niggas do realise that your white-leather, meme shoes are made by underpaid, undocumented immigrants in italy, particularly chinks and afri-niggers right?
The only 'artisan' involved is the marketing bloke who gets you fag-cucks to buy meme shoes for a ridiculous price.
Same tier of production as anything from asia, the only loser here is you effags.

>> No.9976416

>>9976410
The computer you are typing on was also made by underpaid workers. Chances are, there's at least one Foxconn chip in what you're using, meaning there's demonstrable evidence of them killing themselves given working conditions. The same applies to clothing, technology, food, building supplies, etc.

It is very accurate to say, though, that most high-end designer stuff is made in factories like everything else. Potentially better management of quality and end result, of course, but it's not gonna be that different.

>> No.9976418

Before the shit-storm starts I think we should actually have a discussion about production marketing, a lot of designers have been doing shit like this:

On the label:
>"Made in Europe"
>When I look more into it: "Turkey" "Portugal" etc.
>All countries that border Africa/Asia and definitely have sweatshops/poor working conditions.

I mean, of course these shops are probably higher quality/less abusive than fast-fashion Asian sweatshops, but these high-end labels with expensive clothing shouldn't be pulling this shit.

Windsor Smith shoes store in my city

signage: Made IN Europe, over an italian flag, starting at 100AUD

Me: fk nigga that's a bargain,

italian goods are upwards of $400

everything else "made in Europe" looks shit, last season stuff, and it's made in turkey, romania etc.

not necessarily implying WS is a great brand but the marketing is sneaky as

You realise all you're supporting is a brand name. A brand whose products are very easily replicated , probably by the same people who make this 'quality product' anyway
also, sweatshop wage and conditions are generally abysmal

>> No.9976499

it's pretty much inescapable at this point unless you exclusively buy hand-made clothes from an independent designer, which i imagine might be ridiculously expensive

the whole unfair labor thing has become so common and profitable that it would be detrimental to a company to switch to better working conditions for their employees

making your own stuff is an alternative, but i doubt many people have the time/money/dedication

This isn't true though, there are labels making stuff in the U.S./Canada that are fairly affordable and do not use sweatshop labour or tricky marketing.

Of course the U.S. basically borders Mexico and may exploit labour to the south so I'm not sure who is doing what there, but I know there are projects with factories in N.Y./Maine at least.

Jumping in here. Recently bought a pair of Common Projects Mesh Track Runners. They arrived and slipped my foot in and got cut by an extra long staple that was sticking through the sole. Really disappointed that this seriously dangerous defect went through QA. Fortunately I was able to easily return them.

Pic related.

Another pic, it's hard to see just how long this was. Long enough to poke through the insole but not easily seen. Tore my sock. Cut the bottom of foot.

Fucking CPs. This is my 4th pair I've owned. Don't think I will buy again however.

Like I said in the original post, yes I returned them. The site I bought them from was quick to respond and paid all return fees. i kinda wish I knew what the fate of them will be. Probably returned to the distributor or manufacturer? But from there it's probably a really simple fix to cut the staple but it kinda bums me out to see a defect like that come through. Turns me off, yknow?
Anyway, this was several weeks ago. Waited to post because I didn't want it to be seen as me trying to make a big deal out of it or anything.

i could never understand why there are people in /fa/ hate this shoe to the point that they had to make threads everyday just to guilt people who bought this shoe. $400 big deal. i could buy one each month. Some people spends their whole paycheck in gambling. Some people buy time share and spends $500 a year. I never see any reason why you feel bad paying a $400 shoe that is made from china. There are more worst way to spend your $400.
