Do you enjoy browsing /fa/?

What are the good aspects of /fa/, if any?

What are the bad aspects of /fa/, if any?

In what way do you think the board can be improved, if it can be improved?

Do you think it is worth trying to improve it - or should the users who don't like it here just leave?

>Do you enjoy browsing /fa/?

Yes, immensely.

>What are the good aspects of /fa/, if any?

/fa/ has a lot of really cool people with awesome experience and good opinions. Though it is an echo chamber, it still is less so than other fashion boards/sites that end up getting a bit weird. You can trust people here to be honest and somewhat constructive.

And in general I've gotten along with the people here really well.

>What are the bad aspects of /fa/, if any?

The shitposting and general echo chamber nature of the board. I've always felt we fail a lot of people asking questions when we recommend freakin' Geobaskets to someone looking for their first dress shoe.

>In what way do you think the board can be improved, if it can be improved?

More responsible posters making effortful posts. This is already happening and it's awesome. Effort goes a long way.

>Do you think it is worth trying to improve it - or should the users who don't like it here just leave?

Of course I do. That's more or less why I'm here.

And honestly a little bit of shitposting is the culture - totally still nice to have, in a weird sort of way.

I used to, but now it just kinda makes me hurt more than anything.
>What are the good aspects of /fa/, if any?
It has some good alternative views on fashion, there's good inspo most of the time that gives me good ideas on what I can do, as a normie.
>What are the bad aspects of /fa/, if any?
Soooo many. A lot of the threads are just general shitposting that get away from the topic so much. Some threads that have potential get turned into shitposts by people who just call everyone else faggots and don't provide any sort of good criticism.
>In what way do you think the board can be improved, if it can be improved?
The mods need to get their fucking act together on which threads are actual shit and which have potential.
>Do you think it is worth trying to improve it - or should the users who don't like it here just leave?
I have hope that it'll get better, but in reality, not very much at all. Honestly, I'm feeling old, it'd probably just be better for me to abandon this board and go outside or read or something.

Damn. People on the internet are mean.

Unlike other fashion forums, there is an equal opportunity for basically any style to be highlighted and explored. Posters don't often "look down" at lower tier brands and, for the most part, aren't preachy.
>What are the bad aspects of /fa/, if any?
The racism meme has gotten a lot worse in recent months.
>In what way do you think the board can be improved, if it can be improved?

It has a certain aspect of community. There are some good people here who I genuinely like talking to. It also has a culture of harsh criticism, which I think is great for people who are trying to pick up on how to dress properly.

>What are the bad aspects of /fa/, if any?
Shitposting. Even though a light amount of it is necessary to keep the board interesting.

>In what way do you think the board can be improved, if it can be improved?
I think it could be improved by getting rid of the unnecessary racism. It makes us look like a board of simple people who lack education. I also hope that people start posting more constructive feedback. Its been improving lately, but still needs work.

>Do you think it is worth trying to improve it - or should the users who don't like it here just leave?
Of course it's worth improving! I do think if someone doesn't like it though, they should leave. It's stupid to stick around on a board you dislike.

Theres nothing wring with dickriding and hating others imo, it builds discussion.

The problem is people here can't even present a half decent argument why they like/hate something before calling someone a faggot.

Not to mention the amount of people who just parrot why something is good and something is bad without having no actual experience with it.

Then it divolves completely from there.

Anyway, if you're looking to dress better you're better off looking at GQ magazines and the like. Get a good feel of what you like and what you aim for. Get as much info as you can outside of 4chan.

People being mean to each other for no reason. People using tripcodes because they are desperate for attention and a sense of importance. WAYWT is easily the worst thread on /fa/.

I think by it's very nature, a board who's hobby is defined by exclusivity and such strict monetary barriers will never reach the same level of widespread prowess as other interest areas that are completely free to explore. There is, and always will be, an overwhelming majority of clueless people, often early on the path to fashion here. This is especially true since a lot of people leave once they feel like they are above the level of discussion this board provides.

With that being said there are interesting things about this place for someone like me who is very interested in modern communities and fashion culture. The internet is as valuable to watch now as the streets have been to fashion experts for decades, and this place given the nature of 4chan is a unique study in itself.

there are some good aspects of this board, or at least we imagine that to be the case.

I think we have the board we deserve, in a sense. it doesn't seem, to me, like a big enough part of the board really tries to improve state of /fa/.

good threads are archived prematurely because the board is flooded with one-question threads created by users who don't know, or don't care, about that they should post in the general threads.

good threads are also archived prematurely because users fail to take responsibility for the threads and bump them when the need arises.

shit threads are bumped to the top because of drama, and because a lack of proper moderation allows them to remain.

feels threads/pol threads/frogposting remains as well. edgy racism that has its own containment board is thriving here and there.

also, "is x /fa/?" is everywhere.

there are certain shitposting tripfags derailing threads, without having their posts removed or being banned.

anti-tripfags shitpost by asking shit trips to drop trip, even though they're then more likely to not do exactly that out of spite.

the waywt actually has constructive and honest feedback, though.

the w2c also helps many people find what they're looking for.

but in general it's like people has since long accepted that "/fa/ is mostly shit, and that's the way it is".

>Do you enjoy browsing /fa/?

yes

>What are the good aspects of /fa/, if any?

it's a good internet hub; no one tries to sugar coat anything; i sort of like the hostility and pseudo-exclusivity of it all; there are a lot of people who think the same as me; i'm just used to this board but honestly if i found another hub that i could go on that has more people like me i probably would leave /fa/. also despite much of the bigoted talk, most people on here aren't homophobic, which is nice

>What are the bad aspects of /fa/, if any?

the recent /pol/ posters; rampant racism, misogyny, etc.; the people who come here because they want to get girls; the people who think fashion isn't a flexible art form (which is a lot of you); lots of narrow minded people basically

>In what way do you think the board can be improved, if it can be improved?

the board itself can't be improved, it's the people that have to be, and that all depends i guess on a million other factors

>Do you think it is worth trying to improve it - or should the users who don't like it here just leave?

just leave

>Do you enjoy browsing /fa/?

depends on the day. Mostly yes

>What are the good aspects of /fa/, if any?

people trying to broaden their horizons

>What are the bad aspects of /fa/, if any?

runway threads often don't move because (i feel) most posters don't understand what they're looking at enough to comment.

People that create, like drawfags, designers tailors and models are often scared away by harsh comments and its contributing to an overall creative drain on this board and a consumer oriented board.

There no "what are you working on" threads, only "what are you buying" threads, and i think that's a lot of the reason that this board doesn't contribute to 4chans image positively.

>In what way do you think the board can be improved, if it can be improved?

we need people that can take being called a fag 200 times a day to post stuff they make. we need to add things to the archive that actually teach people about fashion and theory and not just how to look coherent when you go outside.

we ought to discuss fashion week and other fashion events, and what we like and don't like, and why more often.

>Do you think it is worth trying to improve it - or should the users who don't like it here just leave?

effay is worth trying to improve i think. it's just hard and unrewarding.

There are some people who are knowledgeable, who take the time to post intelligently and make constructive criticism.
Inspo thread are generally great

>What are the bad aspects of /fa/, if any?
WAYWT and especially people who don't make constructive criticism.
Clueless people, just lurk moar ffs
Most of the trips, I mean before we had trips like freakin Anorak, now its pointless circlejerks "who iz best trip XDD"

>In what way do you think the board can be improved, if it can be improved?

>Do you enjoy browsing /fa/?

sure

>What are the good aspects of /fa/, if any?

been suffering from sleep issues since i was in college

>What are the bad aspects of /fa/, if any?

the people

most online "communities" are filled with idiots mostly

as they become bier more and more new idiots just go along with the groupthink

most people on /fa/ lack the ability to critically think

the few tripfags who can tend to be disliked

>In what way do you think the board can be improved, if it can be improved?

it can't if you want it to grow it will follow the reddit growth method

there will be 5 "sacred laws" that everyone repeats to newer users ad nauseam, to the point where people just assume it's fact

with /fa/ it will be along the lines of
"to be fashionable you need to wear brand X item Y" anyone who disagrees knows nothing

>Do you think it is worth trying to improve it - or should the users who don't like it here just leave?

i think more people should learn how to be brutally honest with themselves, i mean most people here see an image on tumblr or reddit (most newer people browse reddit and talke shit on it here) delude themselves into thinking they can pull it off then post in a WAYWT thread get ridiculed and then convince themselves it's just /fa/ being 4chan! oh well they're just being mean! to protect their ego

you never grow from that cycle and it drives you to look bad, in the brands that people have been repeating since the day you started browsing /fa/

but now since you've memorized the tenants of /fa/ like rick owens raf simons you can't look bad in acne and common projects etc

the 19 year old thinks they're knowledgeable and start to spread filth on other boards and judge other anon's "knowledge" of fashion on the "tenants of /fa/" they had learned over the years

why are people so "pro" moderation

it's just another word for censorship

"it should be someone's job to censor things i do not want to see"

is such a selfish and contrived way to go about things

especially on a board that discusses a subject that reaches all aspects of life

is it because you don't want people to challenge what you "know" about fashion?

do you "need" a moderator to trim everything that does not fit your limited scope of clothing oneself?

that's one of the major issues with reddit

there is massive ego in how everyone presumes they know everything about clothing and have learned all TEN of the brands/designers that produce decent clothes

when in reality there are thousands of menswear designers who produce very nice clothes

why limit yourself?

infact if you want more censorship and clipped ideas which challenge what you THINK you know about fashion? why not just go to reddit and join the hivemind?

>> No.9938389

>>9938378
Agreed 100%. It's nice to imagine that stricter moderation would prevent shitposting, but it could very well prevent a lot of content that adds to the flavor of the board.

Part of the appeal of 4chan has been that it wasn't SA or Reddit - you could kinda babble without restriction as long as it wasn't CP or something. It's not a coincidence that 4chan grew in popularity as SA had it's weird over-moderation period where a bunch of whiny bitches got mod positions and ended up swinging the banhammer too much.

i think it has more to do with human nature and the naturally inclination towards nonacceptance in a developing mind

"i don't like people who don't think exactly like me"

surrounding oneself ONLY with like minded people is a telling sign that one is not open to new ideas

im not saying that everything in the world is great 100% and everything needs to be discussed thoroughly

these kids that don't like to be challenged mentally really should have no merit/influence on this board

there should be very little moderation imo

>> No.9938431

>>9938417
Wouldn't disagree at all.

That's the exact same mentality which makes Reddit so unbearable. Their legal/political threads are probably the most irritating - the dumbest ones get the podium and love to spout patently incorrect shit, which the rest lap up because it makes them feel smart/cultured/whatever.

It's not about about groupthink, to me.

when I talk about more moderation, I'm referring to getting rid of all the excess W2C/waywt threads that should go in general threads, removing /pol/ propaganda and /r9k/ feels threads (not related to fashion).

also, it would be nice to permaban ree and koishi because they constantly derail threads and people complain about them.

>Do you enjoy browsing /fa/?
I'm not even sure. Yeah to some extent.

>What are the good aspects of /fa/, if any?
It moves relatively fast, exposes you to a lot of things, you can ask questions that would get you banned on a regular forum, people are blunt which is usually a good thing. The generals are good too, with helpful people.

>What are the bad aspects of /fa/, if any?

The vast majority of posts are shitposting, stupid memes and buzzwords people don't even really understand, no one ever researches anything before asking a question, resulting in dozens of threads every week on exactly the same questions, moderations is nearly non-existent (when I think about how annoying Casemods was I wonder if i should even complain about this, maybe to you guys he was a feature of this board though)

>In what way do you think the board can be improved, if it can be improved?

More moderation, and the users need to get a fucking grip and at least try and make this board worthwhile.

Some threads, yes
>What are the good aspects of /fa/, if any?
All the serious topics (not many, I'm aware), fragrance general, the nice, helpful trips, a decent, if outdated, sticky
>What are the bad aspects of /fa/, if any?
Massive circlejerky hive mind, only a select few aesthetics are 'effay' and pushed aggressively, others are ignored or laughed at
Insecure underage retards
Underage retards in general
Trolls, annoying trips, shitposters, pigfuck, 'is [trivial daily activity] /fa/?', thirsty faggots only in it for the girls, unimaginative teens dressing in a memechrome uniform whilst taking the piss out of middle-aged men dressing in a dadcore uniform, man I could go on forever
Aside from Rickraf, Yohji, Ann, CDG nobody even discusses fashion shows
Personal drama and vendettas
>In what way do you think the board can be improved, if it can be improved?
purge the faggots and shitposters, delete fag and shitpost threads, do not reply to fags or shitposters
>Do you think it is worth trying to improve it - or should the users who don't like it here just leave?
It's worth it, there's potential here but most people on /fa/ right now are trendhoppers with too much money and not enough taste or actual interest in fashion beyond 'I wanna get laid'
Also we can't keep dumping makeup threads to /cgl/, I've even seen some people try to start casual fashion threads there because of the insane amount of shitposting here

Basically the board is a mess and/or the mods/janitors aren't doing their jobs (for free, of course) well enough
