REPUBLICANS: Obsess over this weird preppy look, but have no concept of fit or style. End up wearing too-big Brooks and awful clashing colors. The women usually end up wearing sundresses, albeit not the good ones.

DEMOCRATS: Like they take design cues from MSNBC. Women with short hair, men with dorky glasses and t-shirts, other bullshit like that.

Putting aside the other points of your post, I want to address the concept of freedom of speech briefly. I'm thinking this through as I type, so bear with me. The demand for freedom of speech was nothing more than a political mechanism for liberals to gain a greater degree of leverage in political orders where early liberal thinkers were in the minority. Think of Voltaire, for instance. Also think of the American Revolutionaries who advocated freedom of speech from the experience of their own revolutionary struggle where they essentially became criminals for expressing dissent under the English monarchy, and so it became enshrined in American constitutionalism because in the future they wanted liberal values to be unimpeded by a hostile government. They did not see it this way of course, because to them human thought 'naturally tended' towards liberal values, but that concept of "natural tendency towards-ness" is itself a function of liberal moral values. "Freedom of speech" properly understood is "freedom of 'liberal' speech": once liberal values have become firmly in place in the political order, however, other minority political values can take up freedom of speech to oppose liberal values, and so liberalism turns against the political mechanism it innovated.

That's the fire alarm, so I'll have to cut this short, but I think it's an interesting thought.
