You can see people pulling good fits just by accident, but shoes require more thought, while inversely people care about them the least.

No, and it's actually very surprising to me how much people do. I notice their overall wardrobe before noticing their shies, sometimes I don't even notice the shoes at all. I've only recently started noticing them more because I've been trying to find decent shoes for myself, so they are at the forefront of my mind.
