Good thread idea OP. I'm taking 2 summer classes whilst working 3 days a week at a local sandwich shop. I still don't have anything for my summer wardrobe but I'll probably go to Jcrew and Nordstrom on Sunday because those are the nicest stores for clothes without ordering online. I got my Apple Watch yesterday too. I've really given up on a GF at this point and am content without one so I'm not too bummed about it.

I don't do anything on summer because my wardrobe consists of black skinny jeans, black chelseas, tshirts and plaid shirts. I mean I go out when it's cold and sunny but since it's mostly hot during summer I stay inside on my underwear playing CSGO all day.

Not sure yet what I'm going to do, might just hop in the car next month and drive through France for a bit. I have to work for two months in July and August, 6 days a week, kinda sucks but it pays great and the work itself isn't the worst.

Kinda looking forward to no-lifing runescape and working at the same time, after a while all this social interaction/studying makes me sick and makes me want to be a basement dweller for a while.

I was thinking about going to Europe, but my only 4 best friends are moving to LA at the end of the summer so they don't have the money to go along with me. Either gonna have to cancel my plans or find new friends.

Also I need to start my summer wardrobe, I don't own a single pair of shorts and most of my expensive clothing are jackets. Also going to FYF fest right at the end of the summer to see death grips, provided they actually show up.

>Idk, I feel like working there would be interesting to me because I love big cities. But I could understand only going there in trips, any place loses its fun after being there too long.
That's generally true. If you like big cities, Tokyo is certainly one of the best - but living there gets a bit tiring at times. Doing virtually anything - getting groceries, going to the gym, etc. - is a bit harder than you can do in the U.S., even if you know the language well.

That being said, shopping there is fun, though the quality can be quite piss poor.

>>9852353
>and to meet some qt jap girls
Don't do this. Japanese girls are pretty aggressive about picking up dumb American guys and attaching themselves on, and the crowd that does that are quite good at feigning interest. It's quite manipulative, and I avoided it like the plague. I've seen multiple girls there refer to foreign guys as expensive living handbags. Still, your mileage may vary.

(But protip: just join mixi.jp and watch the girls start messaging you for no reason just to meet up)

That's understandable. Even though you can't do things like drink or whatever in the US, you'll be considered an adult in Europe. Consider doing things like couchsurfing or taking short courses or picking up some work to meet people while you travel. Check out if there are meetups for expats or English speakers when you're travelling. It doesn't have to be lonely. If you're brave you can try making Internet friends and meeting up with them.

You're young and have no huge obligations. Don't let your friends hold you back from an experience that could change the way you see the world

I would agree with this, but be especially careful. An 18 year old wandering aimlessly through Europe staying in hostels or on couches is fresh meat for all sorts of bullshit. Consider it, but get street smart fast.

That being said, I'd agree with this. I much prefer to travel alone if I can anyway.

Thanks! Sorry for being overwhelming, but more advice:

If you go in the summer, pack the lightest clothing you have. Tokyo in the summer is BRUTAL.

Foreigner bars are good for one-night stands. Just remember that Japanese girls are less inclined to blatantly say "no," so be attuned to the fact that they be implicit about not being interested. You'll need to walk a fine line between being aggressive (which they like) and picking up on subtle cues.

Or do what I do and fuck German and Russian girls studying abroad, which is also fun.

Don't worry about being overwhelming, I'm appreciative to any information I can get haha. I figured they'd like aggressive men, considering their culture and such. I would have a better chance with European girls if I was a little bit taller, they're all pretty tall for women. The 1/4 south American in me fucked up my height, sadly

How much would you say a normal trip costs, with flights and hotel and such? I will have around 5000 saved up for it probably

Work somewhere touristy (hotels, restaurants, serving jobs). Consider going through a working vacation agency. Get a beginner's book from the library or start playing Duolingo or whatever works for you. Consider working at a summer camp for children whose parents want them to become fluent in English. Here's a German example of one: http://www.leo-lingo.de/KontaktJobs/InfoandJobsEnglish/tabid/111/Default.aspx

The last time I paid for myself, I believe it cost ~$1,500 round trip (though a bit of Googling indicates you can get some shittier flights at $1,200). Hotels are also overwhelmingly expensive, so I'd over-budget for those. Same for food, travel, etc. Japan is surprisingly expensive, especially if you're looking to stay in Tokyo (as opposed to some neighboring area).

I think you could do $5,000 assuming maybe a two-week trip or something. I'd just try to find cheap hotels you are comfortable at - and keep expenses as low as you can.
