Rather depends on what the item is.

That being said I generally mark it down to like 40/50 euros on the export form and declare it as something generic. Think mens running shoes, polyester jacket and the like. Just to be sure i'd remove the price tag though. Or put a sticker over it.

Never had any issues with customs, regardless of the country. Seems to be pretty failsafe to me. But there's a risk of it getting lost. You basically opted yourself out of a 500$ insurance for the other's sake.

35 euro is a decent price though. You could go cheaper with partners that hand it over to USPS and the like but in all fairness you really don't want that.
