I don't know, I may have just gotten really lucky with hair genetics because I really don't have to do much to get a good flow but nearly every guy I know IRL that has long hair has terrible hair and I'm always being asked how I got my hair the way I did. I've recommended in previous threads a brush a ceramic brush since those cut down on frizz a bunch. Also I don't personally do this but I've been told blow drying on the cold level where you want your hair to be is helpful

two more things I didn't mention, I wash my hair with kind of cold water and then do a rinse at the coldest temperature. I then use a cotton shirt and press it to my hair to stop the dripping instead of towel drying and then I let it air dry. I never comb except with fingers when it's wet.

American Crew is decent, forming cream has less shine than pomade. If you want it really matte maybe try fiber or wax at the roots. I've also used leave in conditioner, it has a decent hold for a short amount of time. Also look up the amounts of product you need, people always use more than they have to. It's better to reapply than to have that gunk collect on your scalp.

I used to cut my own HY before I decided to grow my hair out. I would just buzz the sides to about 1/8 to 1/4" depending on what I felt like and would cut the top by holding up the strands and cutting so that the back was shorter than the front. Ok so the way I've heard it described is that there are like bench marks for dudes where hormones and stuff are way different levels and that's when hair change happens.

All of these numbers are averages and based off of my recollection so maybe this is all bull but
13: Start puberty, get body hair, hair itself changes a bit, get guy hair
18: Another change in basic hormone levels, they even out more, this is usually when male pattern baldness first occurs and why many get their "mature" hairline
21-25: Anywhere here is where there's even more evening of hormone levels, development hasn't stopped yet but this is another area you can start balding in. If you don't then congrats until you get to
35: A lot of the free test you still have is floating around and your body is like we gotta use all this shit. This is where the irl meme dad strength comes from, your hairline can increase to "mature" or you can start balding here depending on how sensitive to dht you are. Then you stay the same until
45-55: This age range is way bigger I think, it's basically the "midlife crisis" time, test levels drop to severely low levels, mood levels are affected, and this another area of your life when your hairline can change/baldness can happen

So there you go that's the basic breakdown. There's a bunch about it we don't know but there's a bunch of stuff in general we don't know about the body. Take melatonin.
