I'm far from a style expert, but I've been thinking a lot lately about my personal style etc, and I was thinking about contrasting styles within the same fit.

The first example that comes to mind when I think of this, is ASAP Rocky, and the contrast between "urban" and "elegant" that seems to be a constant theme with his dress.

It seems to me that a touch of contrast seems to set a fit off and makes it much more aesthetic than something that sticks to the nature of the fit through, and through - like work boots/flannel/stocking hat. Is this something that is well known in fashion? Is this not as much of a thing as I think?

can you just address the idea of the thread instead of getting upset about a celebrity you don't like?

Should post more examples from A$AP.

honestly I feel like most, if not all, of his fits that include more dressed up styles apply, simply because the french braids ooze urban culture.

it's the same contrast I feel with tattoos and sleeves with dressy attire. The contrast is somewhat aesthetic

where are you from? what are your interests? What kind of music do you listen to? Do you skate?

Dont just start dressing like someone who you admire, take things that are meaningful to you, develop a palette and build from there

This has been a "thing" for much longer than ASAP Rocky has even been alive.

>makes it much more aesthetic

jesus christ kill yourself for using the word "aesthetic" this way

I'm from the rural midwest. I have many interests, including music, art, technology, athletics/fitness.. a lot of stuff really. I used to skate a bit :P

This is actually relevant, because I feel as though somedays I feel like wearing something more urban (not "/fa/" urban), but I also tend to dress pretty "white", too and often will wear a flannel and boots.

When you say, "develop a palette", are you saying you take those elements of your style and mesh them in a way similar to what I described in the OP? Or simply apply them to individualized fits that don't necessarily blend those elements?

I used to lurk /fit/ I can't help it. And I never said rocky invented it, fuccboi, I said his style is an example that initially occurred to me.

>>9764664

But you can help it by learning to use the word correctly, thought I guess I shouldn't expect you to, given the amount of hand-holding you're asking for in this thread. As stated before >>9764645

Just wear things that are representative of your interests, not things that other people wear just because they wear them. You're going to look stupid if you can't be confident in what you're wearing. So much of fashion is confidence.

Except that technically is correct usage? You do know "aesthetic" can be used as an adjective too, right? Like not just on the internet, but in the dictionary.

I didn't start this thread asking for advice.. where in the OP did I say, "help me be /fa/"? I thought the contrasting of elements in styles was interesting and worth discussing considering this is a fashion board intended for fashion discussion, but the only thing you see on this board that is halfway constructive are fuccboi threads, and even those are pretty much bullshit and almost inevitably turn into shitposting.

I'm not saying this idea is cutting edge stuff, just seems like no one ever talks about ideas on this board, only things.

I'm assuming that was you in that other post.. so post some images of fits with contrasting themes or styles from before ASAP Rocky? Or why post when you can just let the thread die?

i cant really spoonfeed you man, but by the questions you're asking, i can tell you already know the answer.

Except it isn't. There is no place in fashion for describing something as simply "aesthetic." It's an adjective in the sense of saying that something has "aesthetic value" but the word "aesthetic" as an adjective, on its own, offers nothing in the way of describing how something looks. You could MAYBE argue that the word could be used to say that something is beautiful, but that doesn't really accomplish anything in the way of actually describing said beauty, and even then I don't think that's an accurate use of the word. This whole board is just a big piece of circlejerking shit. That's not a shot at you, but rather an agreement with you. This board is just shit. It's a fashion board and I tried to start a thread about people making their own stuff and got zero replies.

tl;dr this board is just shit in every way
