The short answer is: you can't. Color will fade even if you spend little time outside and lather up with sunscreen.

I just got to the point to where I was like "Fuck it." and now I go outside as I please. I get touch ups from time to time when the color really starts to look like shit.

Like the other anon said it will naturally fade anyway and there are limits to the amount of touching up you can do.

You will never have that same vibrancy you had when it was fresh but if you keep it covered and out of sun it will stay bright for longer.

This is why designing for the long term is so crucial when it comes to tattoos. Look at at American traditional that age well and you will see that the features behind that are its heavy line work and use of black to contrast and make the other colours around it seem more vibrant.

Color does fade faster with the sun hence why i decided to go all Blackwork (black,grey,white) tattoo.

if you do decide to get tattoos make sure you research best local tattoo shops and in my honest opinion after years of researching the most aesthetically pleasing tattoos to the human body are traditional whether it be Japanese , American,or Polynesian . anything new school ends up looking bad

this style is called Traditional (American) and was done all black work (Black,Gray,White)

this combination ends up looking the most aesthetic on the body and the ink will look fresh and last way longer than color .. color traditional looks good too as long as you don't do any new-school new trad or anything cheesy like that you will be good if you do either color of black work.

for example Japanese traditional looks great in color . but also looks amazing in Black Gray White

I'm not a big fan of all the disconnects.
Say what you will about new age tattoos, but filling up negative space on the body with a bunch of disconnected images only creates a new, less aesthetic negative space.
Even though these are well spaced out, and interlock in a somewhat subtle way, they still look messy. Maybe it's just the quantity though.
