Kanyes first album was recorded shortly after he was involved in a horrific car crash nearly ending his career/possibly life. His music/life is largely throwing in our faces what we don't want to see...much like the great artist of past Nina Simone, who most likely greatly influenced Kanye. Nina and more recently Kanye present to us (white America) the fact that we were terrible to their people but I also feel that Kanye is embarrassed by much of the black community for still holding on to their past so much it keeps them from being able to find success as a group.

Kanye is a great artist, he makes people feel, maybe it's mostly anger but still a successful artist always makes the viewer feel...

His most recent album, Yeezus, is definitely one of a kind. He manages to revolutionize the music world yet again; you can listen to once and you'll know right away that there is nothing like it.

Yeezus was the only exception. In fact it was the first time Kanye didn't really innovate at all.

the industrial grimy dark production was actually being used in underground rap long before Yeezus was released (Death Grips). All Kanye did was take elements of this production style and water it down to make it more listenable. In the end it didn't work because Yeezus wasn't commercially successful, but all he did was take a style and fuse it with MBDTF and simplify it.

Yeezus was Kanye's first lazy album, lazy production and lazy lyrics and lazy story. Kanye didn't have much to say other than he thought people were being racist for not accepting his fashion design.

Actually agree; the production techniques used in the album are nothing new compared to those in his previous albums.

Yeezus certainly wasn't his best, but it wasn't bad at all.

It still has some good songs: most notably Black Skinhead (which I don't doubt for a second will become a classic), Blood on the Leaves, and of course, New Slaves.

Moving on, another Kanye song I really love is "Welcome to Heartbreak", from his 2008 album 808s & Heartbreak. I think this song is really underrated.

It's a short song; it's not filled with catchy rhymes or anger like some of his other songs. The strong sound effects he is known for are stripped away, leaving his feelings naked and vulnerable.

The song is cold. Haunting.

Kanye has everything, but he still feels like he is missing something in life:

Somehow, you are able to sympathize with him. Very few of us will ever be as influential, rich and famous as he is, but his message still hits home very hard:
