well chino's can be ok every once in a while but it definitely shouldn't be your go to outfit
start with classic staple basic's like plain blank white or black t-shirts and decent looking denim and a boot or casual sneaker and depending on the weather some sort of light jacket

but as for beginner basic sneakers, something like an all white or all black lowtop will go a looooong way in your wardrobe for sure
