People in the jewelwave thread were asking me about Djinn influenced stuff, so here's a thread.

I think this is gonna be big next year. I hate the idea of naming it, but I had to put something searchable in the subject. The look is similar to what people are predicting for jewelwear. Luxurious fabrics abound, muted tones, details, and some drape is where I think it's going.

Inspiration runs from genies of lore to rich damasks and sultans' robes down to mystic symbols and flourishes.

I don't have much inspo yet, so please contribute if you want/can.

Yeah, I feel that. I've always thought that close-fitting small drapes look pretty cool. I definitely see a connection with traditional middle-eastern garb, which includes desert robes and head coverings.

Here's a ridiculous picture of Adam Lambert.

I dig the color scheme and all of the intricate patterns, but obviously this is the flashy extreme.

tangentially related is the cape, which I also see making a return in a more traditional form for women and a shorter scarf-like poncho for men. A cape in a dark damask or brocade would be awesome.

Right. I think it can be pulled off with subtler details.

I have these Sruli Recht pants in a very dark green. The photo doesn't do them justice, but they have a really nice drape in the front, they're tapered beautifully, there's a great natural hatched pattern to the bamboo fabric, and they feel amazing. Even my tailor was impressed by them. The details are subtle enough that they're pretty easy to wear.

In fact, I think Recht was ahead of the game on this one. So many of his pieces are sharply darted or pleated, but with very organic lines and drapes. His colors are very unique as well, much in the way Rick Owens is known for his distinctive color shades. Everything I have of his feels so luxurious, but works in more casual fits.

OP here
I think the aesthetics are similar, but not exactly the same. What I'm picturing is much subtler than goof or sandninja. The only way the style can work on the street is through small details and select elements rather than the all out autist look of ninja stuff. Loose pleated pants with a strong taper at the ankle, anatomic forward seam shirts with a simple cowl neck or a little drape toward the waist, soft fine fabrics. It's not cosplay.

>>9614903
I think it works really well in the summer because of an emphasis on loose fitting clothing. Wraps and robes don't need to mean many layers. Traditional loose desert clothing in light colors is practical for the heat.

Remember that the photos in this thread are just inspiration, not a set of recommended outfits.

Loose allows for airflow.
I take back the part about light colors being more practical, they just look more spring/summery.
Black is most practical in breezy heat, believe it or not, because it absorbs more heat from your body, thus producing a cooling effect. It also absorbs more heat from the sun though, which is where the breeze comes in. Wind dissipates the heat from the clothing. I'm no scientist. This is just a basic rundown. I still don't like wearing lots of black in the summer.

my general though process

Stay away from jeans, that would ruin the silhouette, generally any "hard fabrics" would be too harsh and not drapey enough.

linen and linen blend fabrics, thin scarves. Henley's type shirts without the classic button and a bit longer down the crotch? Harem pants and pants that would be wider by the thighs but slim down by the beginning off the kneecap? Longer cardigans that would drape down basically I guess. Standard colors I guess would be brown, black, sand, off white, deep navy, light blue emerald green and burgundy?

But what kind of shoes would there be? Ordinary leather shoes would just kill the vibe, sneakers would look horrible. Mocca texture on shoes for this? Textile? Maybe those Yeezys shoes that look like roshes? (fucking hate saying that but they share similarities) Basically they look like wizard slippers. But what else in terms of shoe game?

Maybe this kind of shoe would look somewhat good? I don't like the idea of not showing some feet in a djinn type fit. You should be able to see some skin on your foot, just like sandals et.c (this sounds retarded)

I know the shoe may be shit in terms of color, quality style whatever, literally first result of "suede mens shoe" in google. I just find the silhouette and shape of this shoe and I think that it maybe would work with djinncore
