Not much. Some of them don't cut as short as portable ones (hair trimmers)*.
Some hair trimmers have room for the cut hair so that'd be less mess for you to deal with.
But I have one without this luxury and serves me well.
Get a trimmer with which you can cut hair closely, shave, trim nose hair, pubes etc. Unless you already have a dedicated/multipurpose electrical shaver.
The only pro of clippers is that they can handle a lot of hair and thus you get the job done pretty quickly.

*I say that for a matter of personal taste, I've gradually shortened the length of the cut and actually shave my head for convenience (have to cut less frequently), so the shorter the better, for me.
Also because I hated when the hair grew and hid the scalp.

Giving me too much credit. Lighting helped with the cheeks and black&white is hiding my shitty redish scar ridden skin.

That being said i think "aggressive" features are going very well with a buzz, because they complement the haircut, or at least they go in the flow of what peope imagine when they think about a buzzcut, aka a skinhead or a prisoner. Got called both more than once but if you decide to buzz you need to play with it, you chose to get that haircut in the first place and you probably knew the results.

But if you have good hair (and a good length) don't buzz it on a whim like that, because it's usually a nightmare when it grows back. Plus, if you aren't a god damn attractive chiseled greek god, the buzzcut isn't the most pussy slayer haircut out there. At all. So if you're a player, avoid that haircut.

I run with the buzz since a couple of years because i'm a lazy fuck and i don't have the patience to grow enough hair to pull anything else, that's about it.
