What's your opinion on using counterfeit items?

I think what matters is the feel and looks. I mean, if it looks/feels like the genuine stuff would you buy a fake replica because it's cheaper? E.g., fake rolex watch, silk ties with famous brand sewed on, glasses frames?

i hate people who rock expensive clothes for the "status"

i hate people who rock fakes because they're trying to emulate that "status" but don't have any money

support your local ma and pa shops and buy from small companies

besides, whatever the fuck your getting has a cheaper alternative that isn't sourced in chinese factories with inhumane working conditions.

depends, am i going for the quality or the style?

What would you say on each case?

I generaly don't think it's ok, but I guess there are some exceptions.

Bought a fake Supreme backpack years ago very cheap (bc realised it was fake a little too late and threathened to cancel payment. Returning it would have cost me more) and just used it to lug groceries - especialy in bad weather. Hardly ever left my street with it. Took it camping once, and one of the zippers broke immidiately.

Currently using a fake LV wallet/coinpouch - but it's one of those good fakes bought in a backroom in China.

Also have some fake Frogskins that I wear simply because they are more comfortable than my real Oakleys and Supreme sunglasses. But I do have a problem with them being fake, I don't like it one bit.

No, never acceptable. If I can't afford the real thing I won't buy a counterfeit item, I don't care how much you like the design you're scum if you wear fake stuff, especially fake Rolex watches. OP no need to seek validation, you know it's wrong but do it if you want.

a lot of the items i buy have the appearance they do because of their quality of construction and materials, as well as the attention to detail. these features are why i appreciate and spend money on those clothes

fake items miss out on these key features and produce an emulation that may fool other people but is otherwise useless to me as it fails to meet any of the criteria that drew me to the original piece

the biggest irony is when people who are purchasing fakes decry the legitimate item as being "only for the brand" as they buy the fake version.. which can only be used for superficial show-off reasons

>> No.9577525

Well if you don't care about the quality being less good
I don't, and i'm about to order some fake roshes
this guy >>9575660 is right about the status thing, it's stupid. But that's only with Supreme, HBA stuff.

Basically this>>9575660

If you buy expensive things only to show that you can afford them then you're retarded

If you buy counterfeit expensive items to emulate this status then you're retarded

If you like the item and don't care about status or brand affiliation but can't afford it and are okay with sacrificing quality to some degree then go right ahead

If you hate on counterfeit buyers I don't really understand why :(

Copping fakes is the real life equivalent of lying on /fa/ about your 10/10 gf and $390k straight-out-of-college STEM job.

>> No.9578331

Fast fashion made in china that steals designs from high end designer brands is not different from copping fakes. They're all cheap fast fashion shit.

Copping clothing over $500 that isn't a suit is fucking retarded and is worse than any fake faggot out there. You literally wasted $500 on some faggot pants with holes in them or some fucking toddler velcro shoes.

If you buy fakes, you're poor but at least you're not retarded like the people who buy the legit shit.

Just buy some fucking basics around $100 and stop wasting your money on clothes that you will stop wearing a year later.

Wow you really have no clue what you're talking about do you? If you said nike or something fair enough, they're mostly made in China anyway

I personally found a lot of smaller companies still source materials from China. Makes more sense for an upstart to minimize production cost.

The better stuff gets marked up significantly, but you've gotta be stupid not to realize not everyone will fork out cash for some unknown back of the woods brand.

Besides branding symbolizes trust in a products quality more or less. You get the gist

Never ever ever with a watch, ever. My rule of thumb is it doesn't matter if it's fake as long as it's small (barring watches). Fake sunglasses, wallet, belt wtc whatever

But fake watches are usually of good quality, while fake clothes generally are not.

I don't know what the replica market is like for clothing, but I do know for a fact that a majority of the replica market (not the shit you buy in an alleyway for 30 bucks) is very high quality, having things that one generally wouldn't expect at their price point.
