In the case morality, it's better to adopt from high-kill shelters rather than the Mom and Pop kindness shelters. MSPCA shelters generally work in the bag 'em and tag 'em industry, you can get pretty sweet cats from there.

Sometimes she'll sit and lick the same spot on the floor for a few minutes at a time.

I just have pleb cats. The better-looking of the two is an abnormally-large tabby, with maybe a bit of calico or something--he has a white belly and paws. Sort of an odd sort of broken stripes pattern on him. He's kind of dumb. He learned to open doors once by watching the other cat, though he could only figure out how to open them from one side by pushing. Eventually he figured out how to open them from the other side by pulling them open... but somehow he had forgotten how to open them by pushing when he did that, and he kept trying to pull open doors that he should have pushed. Now he doesn't even try to open doors because they're just too complicated for him. He's a simple farm boy, brought into the big city as a young kitten but still seems confused about everything, even things he has been exposed to for his entire life.

The other cat is just a fat orange and white girl with spindly legs. She has a tabby's forehead, but other than that is just big spots of orange on white. Weird white line on the largest spot on her that looks like an S. She's incredibly smart for a cat. Sometimes I think she can actually understand nearly every word she hears.Seems to be painfully aware that she is a cat and will never be a person.

Check out servals. A Savannah is a cross between a serval and a house cat. Pure servals are a lot cheaper (like $2,000) because there isn't a painstaking breeding process for them -- they're incredibly common with about a million of the buggers walking around Africa.

That said their behavior is a little different. They're possessive; you can't ever let them out; if you go on a vacation for 30 days and then come back they'll probably never forgive you. So basically they're high maintenance, like all /fa/ people.
