Aesthetics is as much a science as it is an art. The eye can only see so much. The brain prefers to process certain things. We suss out these ideals, play with them, in some cases deny them. Finding new ways to express them, enhance them, hide them. That's fashion.

Being impenetrable and undefined means you don't know anything at all. You haven't learned shit, you aren't communicating fuck-all, if you just let it float around. "Appreciating the medium" isn't creating new injokes and drowning yourself in post-modern quasi-irony, and it's not saying everything mainstream is shit and only certain constraints are worth trying. You're a poseur. You're afraid of information and analysis and the sharing of ideas because you'll be revealed as an empty vessel.
