A lot of the ultra-high-end avant garde and nxtlvl fashion is made in 1st world countries (Italy, France, Norway, Britain, America) so they pay living wages and then some to their garment constructors. They make vastly smaller batches of items than most lower-end brands, adding to the cost per-item. Then the designer gets their cut added to the pricetag, skyrocketing the perceived "value," as well as using premium fabrics, having less bolts of one fabric woven specifically for their garment construction. I don't advocate buying $3000 of Sruli Recht or RO, but it never stopped anyone with the money and drive. For example, these boots:
