how can i prevent my jeans from eventuallu tearing in the crotch? happens to all my pairs, and it hurts just as much everytime. i have three pairs in my rotation atm and i try not to wear the same pair for super long periods at the time. is it even possible to stich it back together?

Took my skinny jeans to a tailor to get them tapered below knee, he started advising against it because blabla no space hard to put on. Is this something to be concerned about? Seems like just what I want (a fit like pic related)

Hey /fa, long time lurker here. I recent convinced myself that the time of skinny/slim fit jeans is over (or atleast for myself) and decided to buy some vintage levis 501's straight legs. However i really have trouble finding a good silhouette with them and find complementary pieces. I usually go with jeans, coloured New Balances, t-shirt and some shirt/sweat. It usually works with my slim fit jeans, but somehow the fit just gets odd with straight legs. Anyone of you have some good solutions to this?

Solution: wear slim jeans.

To elaborate, it sounds like you're trying to wear exactly the same outfits as before but with baggier jeans. That's not good bc the outfits you are replicating look good with slim pants and not baggy ones. With straight leg jeans, new balance look too small and weird and t shirts have to be a little looser too.

What I'm saying is that wearing baggier pants is fine but you have to change the other pieces in your fits too. You need to balance top half with bottom half, because a more visually heavy bottom half usually looks weird in non-high-fashion fits. And honestly, the fits that look good with straight leg jeans are usually like workwear and sometimes palewave. You have to change your whole fit if you change the jean cut.

This is great advice. Thanks anon! If i were to change my wardrobe with look including straight legs jeans, then what would you call that category of fits? What -inspo/-core? Do you have any another general tips than to start wearing baggier tees/shirts/sweaters?

I mainly write this because somehow i began seeing slim leg jeans as a having pic related kind of silhouette and i started to look back for inspo on the men from Hollywoods 50's and 60's film: The mascunline look.

It also seems that once you go with straight legged jeans and a baggier shirt that it's easier to just look like you have a shit fit / you just look disorganized.

I have Rogue Territory Sk's in both Stealth and Dark.

They're both fucking sick, the fit is fantastic. Loose enough I can wear boots in, but skinny enough I can wear sneakers.

The stealth fabric is untouchable, but the dark is alright. If you're looking for overdyed indigo I would try Momotaro or 3sixteen.

Your tailor just needs to advise you better. non stretch can be tapered much tighter, 100% cotton you can taper into a nice slim but has a limit as mentioned. my tailor knew the slimmest i could go without running into issues. she's a pro.

Also you may want your tailor to taper from like 5 or 6 inches above the knee, thats what mine did, she said the transition would be too obvious and look like breeches. just start where there is extra space. otherwise you gonna look like an inverted bent pyramid.

sick fades come with time and it depends on how much you actually wear your jeans

soaking can get rid of a little bit of the indigo so you may not get super high contrast fades as you would if you wore the jeans for an extended period of time without washing

Started with APC New Cures, fucking hated skinny jeans due to track runner legs and dick size. Went to New Standards. Decent fit but prefer slimmer / tapered.

Currently wearing PBJ XX-012. Enjoying them so far.

Nothing wrong with Levi's but I definitely perceive the difference in price to quality.

Whatever the case just get your shit hemmed if you need to. It's worth the extra $15 when you're already spending anywhere from $150 to $300 to make the fit perfect.

Anyone have any skinny raw jeans inspo? Whenever I think raw denim I imagine you have to wear it with boots and americana type stuff. Is it even possible to be a skeleton and still pull off raw denim? I want a really nice pair of skinny raws to wear the shit out of, but I'm not sure I've got the pieces to make decent fits with them.
