i've been a shoe salesman for like 4 years. i've worked in stores that sold everything from vans to louboutins. uggs to ricks.

it depends on your foot shape tbh. most people size down one in cp. some size down two. some don't size down at all.

if you have a wide foot you might not size down. if you have a long, narrow foot, definitely size down.

in terms of outsole length (from heel to toe) CP 43/10 is roughly equivalent to a nike 11.5. pic related is a pair of nike jordan 1 lows in size 11.5 and cps size 43. both of these fit my feet perfectly; i have very long, narrow feet.

most people's feet, however, will be too wide for their toes to reach all the way into the very front of a CP toebox because the CP toebox is shaped on an extremely narrow last. so, even though many people might have ample room in the toebox on a pair of CPs that they sized down one or didn't size down at all, it will probably work as a perfect fit because their wide foot wedges into the narrow shoe so that it doesn't slip off as they walk.

so, i guess if you have a normal to wide foot, size down one. if you have an exxxtra wide foot, don't size down. if you have a super narrow foot, you might consider sizing down 2.

the best advice is to order from a site with free returns and exchanges, or to just go somewhere where they have them and try them on.

also, even though shoes and soles are made largely by machine now, they're not all exactly the same in terms of sizing. 90% of the time i'm a 43 in CP achilles, but when I worked at a store that sold them i used to try them on in the back, and some of the 43s fit tighter than others by just a little bit, maybe millimeter. however, that half a millimeter could sometimes be the difference between a shoe that fit perfectly and a shoe that felt like ass.

if someone walked in my store asking to try on CPs and they were wearing nikes or adidas, i would suggest that they try one size down from their nike/adidas first. that's usually it.

Woops, had Flux turned on when I wrote it, my bad, disregard.
Anyway, the leather is slightly more durable, has a different texture (more grainy) and the heel is suede instead of some smooth synthetic stuff that looks terrible.
But they have just released a new version of the SS with leather instead suede heel and smooth leather instead of grainy.
I think it's still the same quality, though, but imo it doesn't look near as good as the previous one. As far as I remember it still has the off white sole.
