I'm not wealth core because I grew up in a small market city.

Also my parents were very against intense spending (they're considered 1% but as a small business, there's a lot of corners the government gouges them with). Some of that philosophy has rubbed off on me.

So most of my major expenses are more calculated.

Also, I have an office job, so now I can't really wear /fa clothes, I tend to wear 80's prep clothing(it goes with the car im about to buy too, a 944s) so light coloured trousers, Ralph Lauren shirts, APC, Lacoste polo's. Although, im 18 so I do still live with my parents, so I can't help feeling quite try hard with this. Even though I'm paying less for this style than I did when I wore all Saint Laurent, some of it is even cheaper than Acne, I felt more comfortable wearing that than I do wearing prep/wealthcore (despite being cheaper) because it feels like I'm trying to be 'wealthy', which, while I have a lot of disposable income, and never in my life have I ever struggled for anything, my family don't drive sports cars or anything.

It's weird how people size you up when you walk in with luxury goods on. I was at a Tiffany store about a month ago with my girlfriend to get one of her silver rings cleaned, just some $500 piece that I bought her years ago. Got talking to the clerk, and I see her eye the watch. Five minutes later we're in a private room, the manager is showing us 100k+ rings and offering us champagne. I remember her remarking to us something like, "We get a lot of people who can't afford things coming in here, so we just have to use precaution with who we show these goods to today. We don't want to waste our time or theirs."

I used to live overseas and went to international schools where there was a pretty big mix of different backgrounds - you had the "middle class" foreign kids who were only able to attend because their parents' company was paying (myself included), then there were the local kids whose parents owned stuff like a resort or a huge restaurant chains (actual examples of ppl I know and still talk to)

had friends who had rolls royces, invited us to birthday parties on yachts with jet skis etc. and we still bought the cheapest thing on the menu when we went to kfc

i don't know where you live/who you hang out with, but the rich people I know don't really look down on people or have your elitist attitude...

my godparents live in a $10m home, own a shipping business and my family is really good friends with them even though we probably aren't a tenth as rich

This. I'd call myself lower middle class but I have friends from working to upper middle and even one or two upper class acquaintances (UK based, btw).

Common people are often intimidated by my accent (standard English) but I can get along with anyone after a short chat. It's the people who've either come into wealth fairly recently or who have poor character that act with snobbery and impudence. No one I know whose family has had money for generations treats their employees (valets, nannies, cleaners, gardeners etc) with anything less than respect and gratitude. It's the dicks who don't appreciate that in order to run their estate, they RELY on these people and end up treating them like shit. They treat people whom they deem to be poorer and therefore less human than themselves, in a similar fashion. It disgusts me.

Imo, the wealthcore is an attitude as well as the clothes you wear, however the same attributes apply to each:

Be humble, retain high quality, be well coordinated and it must all happen seemingly effortlessly.

You can spot someone who is merely rich as opposed to wealthy a mile off.

Also, I once worked for a piano shop. Some of the houses I worked in were worth tens of millions of pounds and it was some of those that had occupants with the most APALLING taste.

There might be several supercopies out there of Rolexes and Cartiers and shit like that but I doubt there is even one believable replica of a real high-end watch like the beautiful Chrononetré Bleu, the one of very few double sided functional Reversos, or a 36,000 v/h 10th of a second flyback chronograph. These are complications or finishing grades that simply can't be achived on the cheap side, like with fakes.
And the cherry on the cake is that you ask for authenticity papers, the one thing that can be easily replicated in a Kinko's.

CSB: Was in the market for formalwear. Purchasing not renting. Dude I bought from thought I was renting (b/c I came in street clothes, non-effay jeans, non-designer collared button-down shirt).

I should have made it clear from the outset I was buying and not renting - but what clinched the sale decision for me was when I realized he was spending as much time decking me out in different previously-unworn rental gear as he did after he realized I was there to buy. We'd already figured out my body type and most of what would work, so basically the only difference in service at that point was having the tailor come out for marking some alterations.

What I think clued him in that I was looking to buy instead of rent was when I started poking at the untailored jackets and examining the fabric. When someone like me, who's a relative n00b to this, can feel the difference in quality, it stands to reason that anyone who's wealthy has already experienced it and knows what to look for.
