No, red wings are okay. They're a quality made shoe with okay designs. 1/3 of the price is just overpricing though. I own a pair and its one of the most comfortable I've worn. Quality will hold up for a few years if you clean them properly and keep them oiled.

The Red Wing Heritage line aren't even work/hiking boots. Those often have much more durable synthetic materials than something like harness leather. Also, I don't think a leather sole or christy sole are the greatest options for a lumberjack. A leather boot with a cork insole has the property of becoming more comfortable with wear as they form to your foot. They are made for casual every day wear. I don't know how you haven't made this distinction yet when all it would take is just the most basic of research.

I can agree with being annoyed by the workwear styling being co-opted by urban sissy boys, but it doesn't make me hate Red Wings or have an emotional outburst every time I'm exposed to them.

I've got a pair I don't ever wear anymore tho. They're nice boots, hold up well, and are water resistant for a good amount of time. Don't really match with how I dress currently but if I went either back to americana or more into an engineered garments/visvim-inspired style I might start wearing them again. No shame in wearing them if you do now. I don't think anyone's gonna look down at your boots and check if they're red wings or one of the other countless workboots before they start judging you.
