>that no one has even heard of
Pretty sure 99% of high fashion brands are brands that no one has ever heard of. You seriously think that anyone but a minority knows Balmain, Lanvin, Paul Smith, MMM etc? The only reason shit like Prada and Gucci are well known is marketing. The only thing you have to pay attention to is by not pushing the brand into other peoples faces with shitty Burberry raincoats or brand names plastered all over your glasses.

>wear expensive clothing like it's just any other clothing
>wear expensive shoes like any other pair of shoes
>wear expensive things without acting like they're expensive

Sadly, I'm poor, I only wear my expensive clothing if I have a damn good reason because if I fuck it up, I probably won't immediately replace it.

I am the person you replied to, and until the second arrow I thought you knew who I was.

I wear a Rolex Submariner 16610, and moderately expensive clothes. Certainly not anything /fa/ approved, but more expensive than your average person is probably willing to drop.

>> No.9487403

>>9487391
oh, anyway, I really don't think that means much. People who can drop money consistently on burberry, Ferragamo, Hugo Boss, Saint Laurent and other brands at and above that stratosphere have skewed interpretations of luxury.

People on /fa/ contemplate fits, but really truly rich people just buy them without consideration.

Do these guys look wealthy? They are the true essence of wealthcore.

Why does Warren Buffet live in a 5 bedroom stucco house in Omaha instead of a castle in France or Beverly Hills?

Why does Ingvar Kamprad still drive a Volvo from the 70's and doesn't have a limousine?

Why did Steve Jobs wear sneakers and fugly jeans paired with a turtleneck?

Because they are wealthy and once you go from rich to wealthy money loses it's "value". You - anon - want to buy a Rolex or a fancy suit or a Ferrari, because it tells people about your social status. Once you are wealthy, you don't need objects to show off your wealth. The wealth kinda becomes a burden on you, because you don't know how people will react to you being filthy rich. You can never know whether someone befriends you because of your money or because they are sincere. And it becomes kinda awkward, when you suggest to your friend a 70$ brunch like it would be buying a Big Mac from MickeyD's and they tell you that you live in a different world.

That's the reason why wealth whispers and money talks. When you have just gotten it, it's new and exciting. When you've always had it, it's just a tool to achieve goals in life (and a little burden if your friends don't have as much as you do).

Quite unrelated, but what do you all think of the idea that money enhances stupidity? I've only really gotten to know a handful of properly rich people in my life (my job gets me in contact with wealthy folk all the time), but in my experience all of them have either been a bit dumb or just ignorant. Meanwhile, the drop-out who helped me change my indicator bulb at the auto store today was sharp and bright, while obviously coming from a poor background and not having much education.

Maybe it's just coincidence, or maybe I'm forcing it, but the only intelligent people with money I've met are those who earned that money themselves through a lifetime of hard work and are now 60+

>> No.9495253

I come from a pretty wealthy family and went to a private school where I got to know many other wealthy kids.

It was split between very smart people (I like to consider myself in this category) and very dumb people. I think overall wealthy people are smarter as they have more opportunities for education and more culture due to travel.

>> No.9495299

>>9495078
i think that people who have been raised by rich people are more relaxed about their education
not all of course, but a lot of them feel it isn't neccesairy to make their own way in the world, they'll just thrive off their parents success

some see the fault in this, but even they won't have the motivation that people who come from a poor background do

Old tweed jacket that is nevertheless bespoke.
Old, re-soled boots that were made to measure in fine leather.
Dad's bespoke tux.
Old bespoke shirts with new collars and cuffs made with cloth from its tail.
No bling unless it was received as a gift.
Never cutting edge, but because of that, never dated either.
Never obvious - no rolex, no montblanc, no logos.

>> No.9495441

>>9495391
Trust me I run in circles with a lot of old money folk, and they generally dress however they like. After I graduated boarding school with a lot of my friends they dropped the "prep" look and started dressing more casually when not wearing a suit for their jobs. Look at the wealthcore general, I know people who dress in pretty much any of those styles.

>> No.9495466

>>9495441
Huh. Well, to ask a very specific question, do they dress in unexpectedly low-key ways?
As I understand it, that's always been the key to the old money look: expensive stuff that is not obviously expensive, worn carelessly and casually. Even if they've abandoned argyle.

It is anything that in any way possible states that the person wearing said garments is wealthy.

It can be loud with many brands (this is generally considered poor taste and bad wealthcore) or it can be high quality but muted clothes with one logo at the very most. If you see someone and instinctively think that they are well off, you were probably influenced by their dress- this is wealthcore.

It isn't confined to any sub-style either, wealthcore fits can be streetwear, prep, #menswear, ect. It includes high end pajamas to bespoke tuxedos.

The fit has to make sense too; meaning that wearing a rolex and full h&m isn't wealthcore as people would likely think that the watch is a fake.

In closing, use your own judgment to decide if it is /wealthcore/ or not.
