If you really wanted to try it, calories-in-calories-out is not a good methodology on its own. You should eat a plant-based diet, high in fats from things like avocados, and low in carbohydrates. Genetics can affect your maintenance caloric needs by 200-300 calories tops, and that's including various health conditions you might have. There are no 'hard gainers'. Somatotypes are pure bullshit.
