I've been wondering about the laces too, but wearing them the silhouette looks perfect so I'm happy.
It is made out of a really strong cow leather, same as CP's, and CP's used to cost about the same when they started out but have since pushed the price.
Either way I'm positive this is a pretty damn high quality shoe for 120-150 dollars (1000-1100dkk).

their website says 160 euros which is about 180 usd. cp used to be at the ~200 price point, but it was unsustainable. they lost money selling at that point, but they took the loss in order to get people wearing the shoes to understand the quality and build the hype, then they jacked the price up to a decent profit margin.

these royal republiqs look decent, i actually kind of like the laces. the three diamonds on the heeltab are hideous though. and i doubt that they're similar quality to CP. maybe one grade below in quality i'd believe that. again, it's not a profitable business model to make CP-esque shoes of the same materials and processes and sell them below 300.

I've never had a good pair of sneakers before. Only ever really worn Vans. I kinda wanna cop a pair of Buttero Taninos, but I'm also curious about Eytys. What do you guys think about Eytys? Am I better off with Butteros? Was looking into these.

Really depends what you want. Eytys are fucking phenomenal if you're looking for something that fills a very similar role that Vans fill - thick sole, blucher design, super casual. The construction is great, materials are great, totally worth it. On the other side, Buttero is modernizing the design while using classic techniques, which ensures leather that will last longer than the rubber it's built on if taken care of, along with construction that will do the same. Consequently, Buttero is less casual, as they look very intentional.

Basically,
Eytys: Casual subtly stepped up
Buttero: more intentionally elegant

Both are really good options though, it's just a matter of taste at this point. I love my suede mothers and I love my tanino lows.
