What's the quality difference between a cheaper pair of jeans like Naked and Famous and something more expensive like Samurai jeans?

>> No.9368789

>>9368783

The denim.

>> No.9368790

>>9368783
Not enough to matter unless you're into denim.

Expensive jeans are just more unique, not so much higher quality.

this. quality tapers off at a point and theyre all about the same. You pay more for the unique qualities of the denim that you can only get from certain brands, as well as the cut

>> No.9368837

you do realize naked and famous is still not cheap denim either right?
they mainly just do interesting gimmicky shit, like raws that fade red instead of white, glow in the dark and reflective denim. their pricing is up their and their denim quality while not samurai iron heart etc, is still better then average

>> No.9368855

I buy most of my jeans from Guess when they go on sale. They seem fairly high quality while still being in a medium price range.

I also find Diesel and Armani X is pretty good.

karmaloop is actually a pretty decent way to get n&f. all those corny camp themed menswear shops that sell like norse projects, candles and mustache combs always have nf and its always on sale at the end of the season. atrium nyc carries all the black and grey pairs and they go on sale usually too.

Its summer here in Australia and I've been wearing them a lot recently, i've worn them about... A month? Maybe a bit less, and fades are now coming out. I reckon in about 2-3 months they'll be nicely faded. but yeah, they bleed faster than normal raws, but I havent experienced them fading faster than normal raws. tho, indigo did start to come out after a few wears. But yeah, they fade relatively fast.

their cuts are complete shit. no room for your balls and their taper is like .5 inches. spend a bit extra cop like rgt/3sixteen/apc/acne/gustin. gustin is cheaper and you can basically cop the rest for around the same price as nf on sale.

It is to some people, but not to others.
I'll use the analogy of a car. Cars are mostly the same in that they hold people and are able to drive around. The quality varies depending on the parts, materials, design, and build. Gearheads will go nuts over the some tiny part of the car that is maybe interesting but does not change those original things that make it a car.

Denim is the same way. Jeans serve the purpose of covering your legs and being more durable than other types of trousers. Someone who's super into denim will appreciate the interesting slub on a pair of high end jeans and can recognize that the denim was made on a particular type of antique loom that is finicky and operates much slower than a new loom. There's value to some in these unique characteristics and imperfections. The people who make high end denim are passionate about what they do and it's evident in the unique ways in which they produce their products.

Once you hit a $100-150 theres diminishing returns in quality. A lot of it has to do with personal preference and how the pants and the material feels.

As far as quality goes, they all will last a while as long as you don't trash them.

Holy shit /fa/ is being sensible today. The difference between Naked and Famous & Samurai is negligible compared to the difference between Zara & Naked & Famous.

If you're really into that shit then that doesn't matter though, it becomes more of a hobby / collection than something you do so that the average person thinks you look good and I respect that.

>> No.9374610

>>9368783
There's a lot of little details N&F don't have compared to the higher end brands. Most of their jeans don't have hidden rivets or raised belt loops and there's probably some other minor things. It's these details that denimheads appreciate and all the high end brands have. They don't necessarily make the quality inferior but they certainly don't have as much effort put into them. As far as the denim itself though they get all of it from Japan and sometimes from the same mills that make for the $300+ brands.

Samurais are not only going to hold up a lot better than N&F, but they also have better construction and little details (if you're into that.)

The fabrics Samurai offers are much nicer as well. N&F has some cool ones, but most are gimmicky. Also, no matter what fit you get with N&F, they all tend to constrict the crotch area.

I've worn both and can safely say Samurais are 10x better. However, its up to you if you think its worth the price.

Pic related, my 710s with about 10 months of wear so far.

>>9375483

PBJ has more modern cuts compared to Samurai. You're pretty much stuck with a tight straight or a slim taper with Samurai. Both are pretty irregular and slubby but Samurai a bit more so. Check out SDA as well, they're about the same price point and qualityish.
