Basically, you two twist strand your hair (on stretched hair or not) and leave it in for a few days or a day if you want them left defined.

I just went over it, but there are tutorials out there that'll help.
Callmetrice on the tubes has a nice tutorial and similar afro type texture.

I've been growing my hair out for the past 3 months and I just realized today I've been doing it wrong. I've been picking my hair out WHILE DRY which is super destructive, and not sleeping with a wave cap on. I don't think I've messed up too much as my barber has complimented me on my hair maintenance, but still.

This dude gives out excellent tips if you want to properly take care of your hair. Just discovered him yesterday. Alongside that, follow the tips that OP posted on the original image.

For basic guidelines though, you want to leave your hair alone as much as possible (No picking, brushing, etc.) to avoid breakage. Alongside that, you want to moisturize with water and seal it in with some sort of natural oil EVERY DAY to promote healthy growing.

She told me to sleep on if and let it loose in the morning so I DONT have to pick my hair and it'll stand up more.

Just going to add a correction: technically the style is not a flat top but it's under the same principle. You just want the sides of your head to have a fade and you want to leave the top alone. To get that longer nappier look, you either want to get locks or use a twists sponge.

What's /fa/'s advice for hairfall and dandruff/flakes? I have a pretty bad case of both. Should I see a doctor for this? What kind of doctor?
Right now I'm using a ketoconazol shampoo and it's not really working, just causes more hairfall and keeps the dandruff away for about 24 or so hours and overusing the stuff causes massive hair fall.
