Would buying a Flecktarn parka, dying it black then waxing it to make it more waterproof be effay or over done?

Why go to all the hassle?

You could easily buy a black, waterproof parka from a decent designer, so why put yourself through all that hassle?

I mean, sure if you like that specific design of parka, but prefer it waterproofed and in another specific colour then it's totally up to you, I'm just confused.

>> No.9291678

fleck looks p good dyed, never seen it waxed tho.

Next time put this kinda stuff in fuccboi general

>> No.9291709

It's gonna look real poverty. The parka was already cheap looking and then you're doing some ghetto dye job.

You wouldnt have any problems wering this in Germany, as long as you the sun doesnt reflect off your shiny scalp. I suppose lifting your arm high enough to shield the sun would help.

I don't think waxing it is necessary. The newer issues are 80% cotton, 20% polyester and are rather water resistant, if not mildly waterproof.

Just buy shit that actually fits you nice, usually takes some searching and you lot of time also have to size down from the 'official' measurements and sacrifice some of the functionality of movement for better looking fit.
And lot of the stuff looks pretty good bit baggy imo

Surplus
It's cheaper than better quality than that asos garbage you posted.
You can get the parka, dye and the wax for like 35 bucks total and it's going to last you a lifetime unlike that.
Some also like how the pattern is slightly visible still under the dye.

>>9297390
dont give me the surplus talk i actually own a flecktarn parka and the pattern is the best thing about the jacket that separates it from other military jackets from other countries.
if its not visible its fucking pointless buying one you could dye any surplus jacket and get the same all black effect. that would look just like the asos shit i posted.

How fucking hard is that to understand?
And cheap as all fuck, feel free to point me at black BW parka that is cheaper, hell feel free to point me ANY surplus parka that is black by standard and available cheap.
Protip: The parka also has coloring that does not have the flecktarn pattern, pic related the same parka in faded olive green

nigga did you even read i said.
french surplus is the same quality as german or any other countries my point is why does it have to be a german parka with a flecktarn pattern if all you're going to do is dye it completely black so it looks just like that asos shit and loses all its character.
it could be any surplus military jacket so get off the german hype its all the same shit.

Did mine the other day using this method posted by another anon:

>remove flags with seam ripper
>get big cooking pot
>heat stove to medium/low
>pour in enough water to cover parka
>add cup of salt, few drops of detergent, and two bottles of black RIT
>drop parka in pot, turn it every few minutes with tongs
>30 minutes later take it to the sink [I did it for 45 mins to try and get a darker black]
>rinse with hot water, gradually turning to cold water as the runoff becomes clear
>when its all clear, wash and dry it
>You can still see the camo pattern on mine, so if you want an overdye that covers it, go for at least 3 bottles. maybe 4

Bullshit.
You just don't buy the right sizes.
German milsurp has a very wide range of sizing, it's different than civilian sizing, but if you pick the right size, it's perfect.

tl;dr -You need a minimum of 80 IQ points to understand how to choose milsurp sizes-

First of all: >>9297677 this

Second of all, French milsurp (or other) is not as widely available as German milsurp.
(French guy speaking).
I have both French and German milsurp, and German is often cheaper and/or more widely available in a broad range of sizes.

But that's fucking wrong
Pretty much every milsurplus jacket has very different cuts and the BW happens to look fairly 'normal' and nice parka.
Not to mention a LOT of milsurplus parkas are nylon/cotton or polyester/cotton blend which will mean dying it at home will not be an easy task and as simple as it is with BW parka. I get your point, you like the flecktarn camo but then even the 'official' BW parka comes in other colors as well.
