I provided a great amount of skincare advice in a couple of threads a couple of weeks back.

I just wanted to check in and see if anyone has been helped by them. I know that at least one of you managed to have your acne clear up.

I'm also wondering if there's any interest for a skincare infographic/text that brings up the most common skincare issues here. I see too much speculation in the threads and I'd gladly help.

never had any acne in my life but instead I'm cursed with razor burn on my neck. From what I've read its caused more by the way you shave and such... I use a good razor, shaving cream and aftershave but still no help. any tips?

>>9288111

What razor, cream, and aftershave? And you may just have to deal with shaving with the hair and that's it. No close shave for you.

Vitamin C/ascorbic acid: I'm assuming you're referring to topical (skin) administration rather than oral administration. It's a much more effective way of administering AA to the skin. AA is primarily used to prevent and reverse "photodamage" (as in sun UV damage) and ageing of the skin. I'd suggest that you focus on moisturizing the skin as well as using a sunblock in the morning (as this will prevent both photodamage and ageing signs)- and if you don't think that's enough then you can go for some 20% AA product that's out there.

Do you have a basic routine?

>> No.9288696

Never taken care of my skin before. I get flaky and oily fast as fuck, every basic routine I've looked up just makes my shit even oilier even though they say it's getting oily because it's too dry.

>> No.9288785

>>9288696
You have to hydrate within before you see results outside. No amount of moisturiser can fix skin dehydrated from a lack if water.
You drinking at least 2 litres of water a day?
Skin dehydrated that becomes too dry too properly absorb oils and moisturisers which leads to it sitting on the skin unabsorbed, meaning the dry skin below flakes and sits under a layer of oil that can't go anywhere.

I definitely don't drink enough, didn't even think about that. Thanks.

>> No.9288828

I've tried various moisturisers
Cetaphil lotion
Nivea cream
some others

but none seem to absorb into the skin or do anything but make me look worse... it looks shiny or greasy, whereas without moisturiser my skin looks fine.

what do?

>>9288828
Try a serum. Accept the shiny look and give yourself time (about a half hour) before you go out. If oiliness is a problem for your skin, try a mattifier/mattifying wash like Murad or Avène's. I think Sephora has a cheaper line too.

i was recently given 5% benzoyl peroxide from my derm, and whenever I apply it, my face turns bright red and it stings/burns pretty bad for a while, but eventually goes away. my skin still remains red the entire day, and even the next. is this normal? i'm on day 6 of the routine, and the peroxide seems to really fuck my shit up...

I like Clarins' Double Serum but it's pricy. See if you can stop by a department store or Boots and ask for a sample. Murad has a Resurgence Intensive Age–Diffusing serum that's really good too. Don't take my recommendations blindly though. I usually have very dry skin.

I have a lot of closed comedones which don't seem to be going, at the moment I use st. ives exfoliating pads in the pm and boots cleansing wash gel in the am, not seeing any progress on the cc but acne is pretty much gone, what do you recommend?

I had the same problem, then I started to wet shave and my neck is no more red and irritated
I think the fact that a single edge just cut the hairs without pulling them is what makes wet shaving better for my skin
btw, when wet shaving you have to be very careful, because cutting your skin can be very easy

Hi, since finishing an accutane treatment last August iv had fairly red skin on my face. It looks like I'm always a little flushed, even when I'm not. Any advice on this? Iv been using Eucerins antiredness cream which kinda helps but not quite the solution id like. I'm also ginger, will putting on sunscreen once or twice a day help? Do you know of any sunscreens for sensitive skin that also won't make my face look shiny? Any help is appreciated.

I have the same problem. I recently started OCM with 100% Mineral Oil and they at least feel like they are giving way, but I've had them on my forehead for months and I have no fucking clue how to get them the fuck off. Also have Stridex and have been using baby wipes with citric acid for an AHA, but they don't really do much for comodones either and I find they both just dry my face out.
