yeah, i'm signed with Ford Models in LA actually -- and pending some issues with my current NY agency, later might be w Ford in NY too. They're obviously incredible as far as bookings and stuff going plus the prestigiousness of the name. i'd probably say that (at least with the pillar NY/LA offices) you should try for a mother agency first. they're a little hesitant signing newcomers w/o any other agencies, but having a m/a should help.

i sent in pictures online to my now mother agency through their website. following that, they had me attend open call and a few follow up meetings. whole process probably took like a month maybe? there isn't really like 'competition' because when agencies sign someone, they're looking at them in terms of having a certain look that's different than the rest of their catalog. so don't feel just bc you see someone at open call that's crazy attractive that it becomes you or him. like every single model has a slightly different look and a slightly different demographic/key market, you know?

at least this is how my day went when I was living in the model apartment out in NY:get up at 9ish, wait for my roommates to finish showering and stuff bc they get up earlier than me, then get in the shower, do my morning pushups/curls/upper body stuff on the home gym, get dressed (usually around 15/20 mins picking it out) then down a whey protein shake and head to the office with my book. take the subway to manhatten for around 25-30 mins and then once at the office, greet all the agents/bookers and all the other models there. following that, sit on my phone on a sofa with other models for probably 15-20 minutes in case new digitals are needed for a job or w/e - if not, pretty much have the day to do whatever as long as you can quickly get to a casting if one pops up all of a sudden. on the days when i didn't head to the office (probably 3/5 days of the week), i'd get an email two hours prior telling me where to attend a casting at. on most days, probably attend 3-4 castings per day and shoot maybe twice/three times a week for book stuff (at least in NY). then go back to the apartment, maybe smoke weed with the roommates a little bit, do nightly workout stuff, make some bullshit dinner and go to bed.

no, not drastically different than you'd expect. i mean sure agents dictate your weight and stuff but it's not like they're mean about it. it's just trying to fit what the fashion market looks for in a certain year be it muscular or skinny. i can see how it'd bother some people (especially girls) but every time my agents have told me to gain weight and stuff, it's been in the context of having an image/look that works already, so no real negativity about it.

it really depends on your look. for commercial, six foot isn't that bad but still not optimal. the first thing you should do is go see an agency and get an opinion there. even if you have an interesting look, sometimes you won't get jobs in the industry. most of making money in the industry comes down to luck -- that you look like what the market demands right now (ethnically, build-wise, etc) and that you're in the right market (europe, asia, etc.) so nobody (unless you're a supermodel) is ever really guaranteed jobs. but if you have an interesting look, you have a shot for sure.

When things start to get erotic, everybody tries to ignore it for a while and because of that, it just continues to build until it's blatantly obvious and everyone just needs to take a 15 min break. It's really strange and I think it's a contributing factor to why literally everybody is always fucking in the industry. There's definitely an overall erotic feel to a lot of intimate shoots but there's an obvious need to to stay professional. in my experience, the photographers feel a fraction of the sexual tension that the models get bc the photographer has to work out angles and lighting and stuff. but yeah, the short answer is that every time a shoot has been sexual for me, none of the parties acknowledge it but they all know the tension is there. i will say that for bf/gf type shoots, the models themselves literally can't handle the insane tension and usually will end up fucking like right after or the next day.

Oh my god, I love that picture. Yeah, they sometimes play a bit of sappy stuff in the background to get everybody in the right kind of mood but as far as direction goes, it's sorta expected that the models position and move themselves more than usual so that the photo is more raw and authentic sexually. Yeah. Always. My dad has the same build. It's hard for me to gain weight/ muscle, to the point that when I stop working out, I lose weight as opposed to gaining it. It's genetic for most in the industry. Only come across one dude (who wasn't even a model - I think he was a personal shopper/ stylist) who talked about all of his "secrets" for staying that size/ asked me mine.

Now, I just do a ton of core/ calesthenics and drink loads of water to stay defined.

Well my story is pretty funny. 5 month ago I got approach randomly by two classy women on a subway . They basically ask if I model so they literaly give me their card. Maybe an odd request but do you have any tips on how to photograph better? I'm an admittedly plain-faced girl but I've long known I photograph badly, my neutral resting face looks sad and when I smile it doesn't translate well on camera (I barely look like I am smiling in photos though it is more apparent irl). At some point I realized I photographed a lot better if I smirked. I'd rather not look smug in all my pictures but I haven't really found anything else that works. I honestly didn't think of much skill in modeling until I saw a video of Ming Xi being photographed and I noticed all the subtle movements in the way she posed her lips/eyes/etc and I realized there was an active component to being photogenic. I helped a friend on a shoot once and she directed me and I found that instruction was really helpful as she got a greater range of expression in the photos than I would have been able to achieve without guidance.
