How much to redo a wardrobe? I am talking top to bottom I am 22 year old male. I love classic peices (blazers, button downs, wingtips etc...)

Buy designer clothes that retain value and can even increase in value. I use to shit on myself at some prices, but when I bought things on sale I often ended up reselling for sale price and profit.

What if on the top I'm a female, but bottom I'm a male?

>> No.9270423

2k is more than enough if you spend your money wisely.

call it $200 for some good used shoes
$70 for good used shirts ( button down )
$100 for good used pants ( trousers )
and $400 for a really good used blazer

1 blazer
2 pairs of shoes
3 pairs of pants
4 shirts

thats ~1400

Classic pieces?

If we are talking about a skeleton wardrobe, basically all the essentials, then prolly around $4k if you don't buy the most expensive stuff but not shitty stuff either.

bare minimum that comes to mind (for me) is

3-5 plain solid colour tees
3-5 casual shirts in either light solid colours or with simple patterns, defaults are white and light blue
1 pair casual pants, tan
1 pair of jeans, black or dark blue, no wash or distressing
1 pair of simple sneakers in a neutral colour
1 pair of "dress" shoes (oxfords / derbies), probably in brown
1 hoodie / sweatshirt
1 jacket

you can do this for between 1-2k depending on the quality / price of each piece

this includes no dress / formal / work clothes - you may need dress pants, shirts, suit(s) if your work (or lifestyle) requires

i feel this is very basic and boring but a good foundation - you can add statement pieces or upgrade to "high quality basics" from designer labels as you wish. you can take your style in any direction you want from here by adding to it with future purchases

after you've set this wardrobe foundation up, watch all the usual suspect sites for when sales roll around and cop accordingly to expand your options

Allen Edmonds are very nice quality, but they're much more expensive outside the US. At that price point there are probably better options. For Americans, they are a good choice. [I'm americunt btw]

Church's best models are excellent, but you have to be more careful as they vary a lot in quality by model. You want something fully leather lined [not partially linen] and cut from full grain leather. Online research will reveal their quality dropped a lot since they were bought by Prada, but most of those complaints [partial linen linings, use of "corrected" grain leathers] are invalid because those practices were already in place before the buyout. You need to know a little about leather and shoes to get the best from them, you can't just blindly buy [true for many brands, though].

A third option is Crockett & Jones. Another made in England brand like Church's, they are high end and comparable in price. I don't have as much experience with these, but their rep is top notch, just watch out for the same things I mentioned regarding Church's. I am pretty sure Allen Edmonds uses full grain on everything, not completely certain, it's been a long time since I've looked into them.

Also I stay away from 'authentic' leather soles because they wear much faster than older leather soles did [according to the oldfags] and they are VERY slippery on icy surfaces. Most of the high end brands offer rubber soles that offer much better mileage and grip, yet they can be replaced and restitched when they wear out, just like a leather sole.

Good luck. Pic related my next cop coming in at around $550, if you can even find them in stock.

Wanted to add that some companies will do certain things like Chelsea boots in England, dress shoes in Italy, ect. The country of origin my vary, another thing to consider.

The "Made in Italy" branding is extremely liberal and they can slap it on almost anything. There are not laws there to prevent this, whereas other countries have restrictions stating a certain amount of materials, components or construction must be from or take place in that country to qualify for the Made in [...] label. This true for anything made in Italy, not just shoes.

I think I am going to wait unitl I am out of the miulitayr too restock my wardrobe. It will give me more money to save (around 3k in a year and a half) which n will mean a lot more things to buy. Also good shoes for around 300?

>> No.9273223

>>9273216
300 pounds or dollars?

if pounds then go for CPs, dollars then go for second hand CPs

>> No.9273263

>>9273223

You can get CPs for $250-$300 [USD] on sale, if you're that patient to save, cop them cheaper.

If you mean dress shoes, Allen Edmonds has a bunch on sale for $300 USD currently on their website, but most of the black are sold out it seems. That's a damn good sale for them, most high end stuff doesn't go on sale for large discounts, but high fashion brands do at the end of the season when they're clearing inventory. [notice high fashion doesn't equal high end, it can, but it's not the trend].

If you mean GBP, you're screwed because everything seems to cost 1.5 times as much on their side of the pond. Levi's for $35 USD on the reg here.

>>9273263
I see a lot of companies like to just replace the dollar sign in front of the price with a pound sign. Means things become much more relatively expensive when they decide to sell them in the UK, sucks but watcha gonna do you know?

500-1000+ dollars
No joke, including mistakes. I've spent over 500 dollars on American Appeal stuff trying to get the basics right.
Make sure you have a measuring tape, an ebay account and know a good consignment shop cause you'll need it. Start simple, get what is needed.
