I have some surplus Italian army rock climbing pants that are pretty cool. They're almost like plus fours in length, but they taper quite a bit to the hem and have lacing on the cuffs if you want them tighter. Built in knee pads. Seems like they're well thought out. I sized down on the chest measurement just cause I wanted to fit well from the shoulders and chest area instead of having lot of space for movement and I was actually surprised how well it fit, I could have bit wider shoulders for it, but I'm just really not that bothered when it comes to surplus stuff.

The M88 is weirdly long for army field jacket, at least compared to other field jackets but that's kinda why I liked it. I took L length and I'm 6 feet/184cm I think, could have probably gone with M as well though.
The one thing I'm not too keen on are the lower pockets looking identical to the upper ones, I think it would be more interesting if the lower ones were bit angular, but it's very minor thing really and I just put the flaps inside the pockets anyway.
I also got M65 but it's actually repro and not real surplus item.

Most places carry the particular M88 for like 20 bucks, it's fucking amazing for the value, dunno if I just got lucky but mine has some sort of coating that makes it waterproof (to some extend haven't tested it when it really pours yet) on top of the great build quality.

I got some money to blow on a milsurp jacket as I got tired of my flecktarn fieldjacket.

Austrian M65 - safest option all around.
