They're good fun for the price they go for and you don't have to worry about breaking them because they're cheap but there's always the possibility (as has happened to me before) that you get one that won't keep time even after regulation. Timex is probably a more reliable choice. I know plenty of people have had good experiences with the HMTs though.

7 inches isn't really that effeminate. I don't know what would be loud about the movement, the ticking certainly isn't. the rotor is kind of loud when the mainspring isn't wound but when it's wound it's much quieter.
