It's the same problem with most hobbyist boards on 4chan. Specialization coupled with the exclusionary nature of imageboard culture eventually lead most hobby boards to become stagnant circlejerks that are resistant to new users and ideas.
The culture becomes focused less on exploring the board topic and more concerned with enforcing dogma and being better than some perceived "other", usually exemplified by a competing Reddit board.
