1919 are those hideous clownshoes that skinhead/groundskeeper cosplayer wears. It's him posting anonymous in this thread pretending someone is posting him as "inspo" and saying his boots are "superior".

1460 is the quintessential Dr Martens boots. If you want the classic look, get 1460's. If you want to look like OiOi get the 1919's.

>1460

>1490

>1919
model 1490 with a steel toe

1919s do not have to be that hideous blue color and are SUPPOSED to be the same silhouette as the other originals (1460/1490). that being said, after observing in person, the toebox appears to be larger in height, which would make sense as there is a steel toe. the steel toe in the 1919s is not safety rated so it's kind of pointless.

i have a 5 year old pair of nappa leather black 1460s and a 3 year old pair of oxblood mie 1490s. my girlfriend has 1.5 y/o a pair of chinese cherry 1460s. here are my impressions
>nappa 1460s
leather holds up best out of the lot due to being full-grain. hardly ever touched with dm wonder balsam and still soft and supple 5 years later. after years of abuse the soft leather can look very slightly 'slouchy' in appearance. soles are worn thin
>mie 1490s
favorite color of the three. cracked after 2 years due to salt exposure in the winter, though creases formed much quicker. i am unsure but i may have been overzealous with the wonder balsam, and i know this can contribute to leather rot, so it should be considered as well. inside surface of the leather is unfinished
>girlfriend's chinese 1460s
these are a darker red. gf is jealous of my oxblood color and worn appearance. the leather feels synthetic and plastic-y, though it is still composite leather. despite deep creasing, there are no cracks yet

in summary of my autism
>durability
nappa > chinese composite > english composite
>appearance
english composite > nappa > chinese composite

It sucks because most mens shoes start at EU 40 or 41. The upside is that I can fit into most womens shoes.

Loosen the laces and then gently pull your feet out.

I tried on a pair of Doc Marten's recently and thought they looked/felt awful. They were the stiffest boots I've ever put on. It felt like they were made from plastic.

Does it get better?

Supposedly it takes a lot of time to break them in.

I got mine last winter. Took a really long to break them in and it was hell trying to drive in them because of how stiff they were above ankle. It was worth it though.

Fancy copping some 101s. Cherry red or black? I'm leaning towards black.
