To answer your question on the 70s chucks, they have a thicker bottom sole and a little more contrast stitching. Allegedly, they are a little more comfortable to walk around in because there is more padding in the sole + the outer is thicker in general but don't quote me on that. The off-white ones look pretty good. Just look up comparison shots and you'll get a feel of them.

Regular chucks have a perfect sized sole and the stripe contrasts nicely with the rest of the black canvas.
