First off, what do you want? We can't help you accomplish it if you don't say what it is. A lot of mixed hair is in the 3's. I'm mixed and I'm 3c. Post a few pics and maybe we can identify yours. As far as products, I suggest Cantu. I swear by it and I know a few other anons have gotten it and it's worked for them too.

Okay. I wouldn't waste money on a weave if your hair isn't very damaged from permanent relaxers ie don't bother with one unless you absolutely need it. Until your hair is longer you can do stuff like pic related and as long as you keep your hair well moisturized it'll look good. As far as keeping it moisturized, you don't want it to actually look wet because then you'll look like a chola. Cantu makes a really good leave-in conditioner and that's all you really need. I use it with random shampoos (I don't pay attention to the brand much) and it keeps my hair moisturized and I have a LOT of hair.

For the basics, you should only really be combing through your hair while it's wet. Shampoo 1-2 times a week, you don't need to do it more. I don't even wet my hair unless I'm washing it, but there are some people who cowash or wash with vinegar so stick around and ask them. I'd also suggest waiting around and hearing some of the guys' routines since their hair length is probably closer to yours than mine is.

okay, here's a pic of me(I didn't blur out my face incase it could be useful or something), I rinsed my hair out and this is when it was almost dry.
I actually did put a relaxer on it a couple of weeks ago, but I didn't get nearly the result I wanted. the front part of my hair in considerably straighter than the rest, but I'm not sure if you can even tell in the photo, I tried to brighten it so that the actual texture is visible, but I'll just post a close up of my hair if that helps...

I'll check with my local Sally's and see if they've got Cantu.
I actually don't use shampoo at all....I stopped using shampoo on the reg about 4 years ago, and since then my hair has generally be healthier. I generally just use a conditioner every few days

I wouldn't mind hearing what some of the guys do, I guess I'll have to find some mens cuts to bump the thread

Okay I don't actually see any curls. In this case, I'd suggest getting it shorter on the sides because it kind of goes everywhere but then you don't have curls so it's a little awkward. Was your hair like this before you used relaxer? Do you mind if I ask what you're mixed with? Your hair looks similar to a friend of mine who is Japanese and black but I'm not sure if that's because of the relaxer or not.

Some of us don't have hair with loose, well defined curls that everyone thinks black girls wearing their natural hair have. People just don't like it as much.

I actually tried going natural and shaved my head bare several months ago, but the curls coming in were so tiny and the afro was so tight and dry, I went ahead and straightened it again. You just have to treat it super delicately when you do to keep it from getting *too* damaged

It's just not worth the cringes you get from everyone and being asked "Why don't you straighten your hair?" from pretty much everyone

But for people who actually have nice looking natural hair, I also question why they'd bother straightening it. Its a shame when they ruin their hair that way

well, it has /that/ look because of the relaxer I used, but it wasn't all that curly before....just more....frizzy? Idk how to describe it, now the hair kind of clumps together into clusters, whereas before they were all independent hairs sort of, idk if it makes sense. If I pull out an individual hair from before, and one from after, the difference is minimal.

I really don't have any decent before pics, but here's what I could find.
in the pictures I posted yesterday it was still a little damp, I wish I had a similar pic from before, because these are all when it's completely dry, except for the one on the far right, which is partly damp, and I have some gel or something in there iirc.

Since your hair is shorter, you'll probably need to look for a tutorial where they don't pin as close to the center. This could work since you're looking to grow it out. Unfortunately, looking at your texture, your hair will be in an awkward growing stage for a while.

Your options are pretty limited. If you're male, just shave your head. If female, grow it out and just leave it how it is naturally. Anything more complex will look like shit if you don't style it constantly and have 10/10 facial aesthetics.
