Funny I saw this thread first thing on /fa/ this morning. I had questions for you guys.

I love the prep aesthetic, especially since I'm making an attempt to get into the banking sector but I also love the black urban goof ninja look with the draping and minimalist design and color.

Is there any way I can blend these looks successfully? I feel like other styles would blend better than these two because they're such polar opposites.

Also, I'm not the richest guy. What are the best budget shops? Say if you only had $200 to spend what pieces would you buy for a basic prep wardrobe?

That's not really true though. I used to think the same thing back in high school because my vision was warped by movies. I realized later that the preppy people acted that way because they're generally just really nice guys you can always tall too. Since then I found it's just a relaxed lifestyle, no better or worse than any other. I see a lot more elitism in places like sz and sufu than in any preppy place I've been too.

>> No.9036419

I'm not talking about the clothes though. I'm talking about the prep school->Ivy League -> business/finance set, whom I've done plenty of interacting to know that they rarely transcend rich douche status.

The lifestyle is predicated on either being old money or fiercely pretending to be old money, and there's nothing more elitist than the pretension of being part of a particular class.

I look at prep Inspo and I want to hang out with 0 of the people in them. I just want to dress like them because TE clothes are nice and it flatters my body type.

>> No.9036432

>>9036419
That's what I was talking about too. Our experiences are vastly different. I grew up with a lot of of money banking kids and none of them took advantage of their position or acted superior to me even though I wasn't in the same class. I acted rudely towards them in high school, like I said, and even then they were still cordial.

After getting the college the only people who acted like douches were the kids who think prep is joining a frat and getting drunk with their salmon colored shorts. The non-shitty frat kids were the same type of old money kids I knew in high school but I decided to be nice too and they were just as nice in return.

Not sure why you would want to buy something that was imported into Murrica then have it shipped to England...Especially when it's something basic like a wool jumper.

Most of them, lol. Just check the material it's made of and where it's made. Cashmere and wool being top tier (some prefer wool for the heft others cashmere for the lack of it) and of course usa, euro construction.

Growing up I always heard gays wear v-necks. Does this only apply to t-shirts? Sorry, I'm /fa/ retarded.

Also, are there any guidelines to purchasing this type of clothing? I generally just wear t-shirts or 'casual dress shirts' when it comes to work.

Who the fuck was telling you that?
Maybe if they specifically meant those super deep v-neck vests. But people have been wearing v-necks for a long fucking time. It's just a type of neck line.

As for the other part of your question, just make sure ALL of your clothes fit. They should be form fitting but not tight. Make sure you tuck in your dress shirt, but not the sweater. Just take a look at some of the pics in this thread they're all very good. Other than the four guys with the manlet.

Cashmere isn't really prep because it's not rugged enough, same goes for merino wool, they're both too dressy and refined, plus honestly the texture is not very interesting. Shetland and lamnbswool are my favorite
