i think my hair is okay, i'm working on my skin, and i usually wear glasses to hide the bags under my eyes. but i read that /fa/ likes dark circles under the eyes? so i might try to wear contacts more. they make my eyes really dry though so i'm not sure. but i think i have potential. i'm cutting right now so my face will be less chubby in a couple of months or so.

Honestly, I think every outfit in this thread is ugly as fuck. Shapeless, badly fitted, dull colours, no real ideas or feeling behind them.

When looking for new clothes, I look for the kinds of things that make my heart beat faster, that when I see them my breath catches.

As you'd imagine, this look does exist and plenty of folks (especially the small niche brands in Asia) mine that vein rather often. As far as the kind of chic Miss Havisham thing goes for everyday clothing, it takes some work to make it read as clothing and not costume, but it's not impossible. I think brands like Marchesa Voyage do a pretty good job with that approach, though.

The problem is that these more elaborate looks require finer work and finer fabric to read as elegant daywear and not as costumes stolen from a film set.

i think that look is cool. i spent most of middle school and high school trying to achieve it. unfortunately, however, i have olive skin, brown eyes, brown hair, and most of my fat is stored in my ass.
so basically it makes me look like a mexican emo kid. i agree that it's definitely a good look, but it doesn't complement my colors at all, nor is it really practical for california weather. i appreciate the suggestion though..

i have very few pictures of myself because my skin is shit so selfies hardly ever look good at all. i randomly took this one on snapchat though and it turned out okay, sort of angled, but you get the idea.

Don't listen to the elitist idiot. The places that you mentioned are actually good starts. Now the thing with them all, and especially forever 21 is that you're going to look like every other girl who dresses decently and shops at the mall. Not that this is a terrible thing, they look good and all, but its unsatisfying for people like us and maybe someday you, who care about style and want to standout. H&M is a little different though, I actually really like H&M and I think their women's stuff is great for the price. What H&M basically does is hit up top designer's runways and rip stuff off, and that's great for people who can't drop huge amounts of money on the designer stuff.

H&M is less safe than forver 21 since their stuff is hit and miss but if you gte a decent aesthetic sense or go with some friends who have some, you can look great for little money.

But I do agree with another guy that reddit may be better for a newbie, especially a women since 95% of the posters here are men who know nothing about women's fashion.

I wash my face twice per day. I try to drink a minimum of 2.2 L of water per day. I avoid processed food, which goes with the territory of /fit/. I work out. I use a salicylic acid treatment thing. I don't touch my face.
I might go on birth control next week but I'm not entirely sure. But yeah, I used to have it way worse, but I have really irregular hormones and extremely oily skin and I lift (which boosts test), so it just gets shitty sometimes.

I actually just got back from Forever 21. I got an olive trench coat sort of thing, a cream colored scarf, some black tights, knee-high socks, a black dress with roses on it, a red black and white flannel, some basic v-necks, and a black skirt. I think it's a decent start. I'll probably go to a few other stores tomorrow, but I still need to work on developing my fashion sense. I brought one of my friends along with me, too, and she gave me pretty good feedback on the stuff I was getting.
I guess I could suck it up and try reddit. Are there any good subs you know about?

Eh, it all boils down to taste. I dislike meme simons, tumblr twee, buzzcuts and similar but if people like it and it doesn't look disastrous go for it. One thing that really puts me off of /fa/ is the notion of "pleb taste/shit taste" and forcing samey fits over and over again. Like what you like mane, but don't expect everyone to agree.

And the reason those people dress like shit is because they try to fit in and dress by others' standards instead of minding what looks good on them. If a landwhale or a roided up musclebro wore Rick Memens everyone would just laugh.
