Was gonna post a new thread but since this is up, is there any way to actually get different hair texture? In all the pics on here so far, they have that almost woman like hair where you can see thick strands of clumped hair. Know what I mean? Its not just an afro mess. Theres separation.

I am a part of the jew fro life but with a similar haircut to the main pic, and obviously it looks nothing like that because its just one clump of hair.

Any products etc? Like the asian dude, thats so sick so how the middle has like 4 separated blocks of hair.

>have hair in pic minus any product
>mfw it can get so curly on humid days that it fucks up the hairstyle

I know product could perfect it, but I fucking hate the feel of sticky/mucky/hard hair. I like to be able to run my hands through, its so damn soft.

Also, I have been cutting the sides shorter and shorter, currently getting a 4 when I get it cut. I dont know if it will look good any shorter? How short is too short? I dont want any scalp showing, that shit is gay.

Also also, I dont know when to stop growing the top and just get it trimmed/maintained at a certain length. As it gets too long, it starts to hang off the back and look odd.

>> No.8977993

>>8977950
When I had shorter hair I would use shampoo only if I was getting dandruff, if I didn't, then maybe once a month, if that.

I would use conditioner more often than that but usually only a little bit to add some good smell to it.

I would more often just wash my hair with cool water. That worked for me most of the time.

Look up an apple cider vinegar/water mixture. That worked well for me. Really depends on the person. Have to test stuff out for yourself to see what works for you.

Still kind of do it. Just clean it more often now. I'm just growing my hair out long right now and have to use more product when I'm going through the awkward stages. Still getting a feel for what works for me at this length.

I'd have to rarely use product when I had my shorter hair. Loved the natural oils. When you hit that sweet spot with your hair it's awesome being able to naturally style it. Would get tons of compliments on my hair.

I've been using coconut oil as a conditioner lately. Something new I've been trying. It kind of works as a substitute for your natural oils too after you shampoo. Pour a tiny amount in your hand, rub your hands in it, then run it through your hair like you would pomade/wax.

Having a bit of oil in your hair, especially if you've got coarsely-textured hair, helps to ensure that all of the pomade (assuming you're not using a water-soluble product) ends up well-distributed and unclumped. It can be difficult, using the hands alone, to keep the pomade warm enough that it distributes nicely, and using a blowdryer on oil-based pomades makes a horrible sticky mess.

When using shampoo more than three times a week (especially in humid weather), a minute measure of natural oil goes a lot further than the cheaper silicone-based lubricants.

Pomade and paste are different products with different compositions but similar uses.

Pomade, strictly-speaking, is any wax-based shaping, styling or (less-commonly) finishing product. It usually consists of at least one wax and one oil but in its simplest form, could be made from any appropriately-textured fat. Because pomade is made using primarily lipid-soluble ingredients, it will stiffen when cooled and is difficult to distribute through cold or very wet hair. Unlike gel, mousse, paste, and spray, pomade doesn't dry. Being oil-based, pomade has moisturizing effects desirable among those with dry, coarse, or easily-damaged hair. Depending on the glossiness and stiffness of the pomade, its outcome can vary from adding a bit of weight and form to a semi-stiff unwashed style or full-blown greaser gloss.

Pastes, on the other hand, are water-soluble styling, finishing, or (less-commonly) shaping products that can be formulated for desirable results in wet hair. Most are meant to provide results between those of gel and pomade. While pastes do set when dryed, they do not harden completely and may contain emulsifiers and wax or oil. Pastes should remain somewhat flexible when dried. Ideally, pastes provide nearly as much hold as gel, while adding less weight to the hair and drying with a more-natural and less-crunchy finish. Higher-end pastes may contain oils or waxes which provide moisturization. Pastes are available in a wide range of hold and gloss levels. Many companies try to market paste as pomade; if it is water-soluble, it's not pomade.

Pastes and pomades both provide less overall control than most gels, mousses, and sprays. They also look more natural and are less stressed by motion of the hair and so, may look better after a long day. Because pomade does not set, it can be restyled quickly if need be. Paste must be re-wet to be restyled, but does not go as shitty when rewet as, say, mousse. Paste is a lot easier to wash from hair.

Unless you're detangling hair with conditioner in it, avoid combing drip-wet hair (actually, you should avoid combing really wet hair altogether). Also, the more wet your hair is when you apply product, the tighter it will clump and the closer to your head it will set. Try towel-drying your hair more thoroughly, or even with scrunching, before applying shaping product.

Using curling mousse and a blow-dryer are a short path to big volume, but unadvised unless you drive a magic school bus or are in a glam band. For more natural-looking volume, try a product which sets with a flexible finish, such as a paste or light-hold gel. Apply the product when the hair is still damp and soft, but dry enough that it does not drip. Instead of trying to style it and go, try giving it twenty or thirty minutes to start setting, so that you can redo any weird sections and, if necessary, weigh it down with product and/or water (or scrunch it if you really like those curls).

Well grease and water and shit. You know, polar and non-polar crap

My experience with nopoo:
Eliminated my dandruff but scraping my scalp after getting wet produces lots of dead skin under nails. I assume that the grease and shit clumped together and formed an actual layer rather than flaky bullshit. Literally a godsend.
Makes my shit hair actually look nice, acts as if it had product in it, without product
Leaves a very undesirable feeling after rubbing it, not sure if just my own psychosis or just girl who rub my hair doesn't care, feels greasy
I don't do full no poo but cycle with a good wash every once (couple weeks) in a while to start fresh, takes about a day or 2 to get back no poo status
Does smell if I don't do the biweekly wash,
Everyday water wash where I just rub and soak for a good while

I've been No Poo for like 3 years

I just started one time after I got a short haircut. I had heard about it so I decided I'd give it a shot when it was less noticeable.

My hair was greasy and gross as shit at first, but after 2 or 3 weeks it got pretty nice. I'm a poor fag and can't afford the nice salon conditioners, so I use the Garnier conditioner with the white cap that's like "all antural no additives" or something.

I really recommend it. My hair feels wonderful all the time, and I can sometimes go like 3 days without washing my hair and you can't even tell since my scalp barely produces oil. Before, I couldn't even really go 1 day because my hair would be greased and matted to my head

I let conditioner sit for at least 5 minutes in the shower, too. I got some nice Olive conditioner on sale and I sometimes use that too since it makes my hair SOOOOO SOFT OMG.

Occasionally, maybe once every month or two, I'll use shampoo. I only use it if my hair feels irreparably greasy, like maybe I've been sweating a lot or I used too much wax/pomeade (which I don't normally use). Basically, just if it feels like I should shampoo my hair, I do

It's great, it really is. I would never go back to shampoo because my hair is so soft now and I never have to worry about it being or looking too dry

Guys. I'm like a 4.5/10 max and not /fa/. I've got bushy eyebrows and a unibrow problem and I have a round face. I'm thinking of growing a beard to elongate my face.

I've been on no poo, no nothing for about two weeks now, before that I just used conditioner for like half a year, and everything's fucking great
My hair seems to be over the awkward greasy phase, though it was never that bad for me. I kind of want to use conditioner again because it makes me feel fancy and luxurious, plus you can get some really good, cheap shit here, but are you sure it doesn't affect the no poo thing? Like, sure that it's not gonna set your progress back?

I never realised it but I think I have the same shape face. That would explain why I suit a long style with a long fringe better than my current short style. Shit sucks though, what short style works without being an emo style (short sides, long fringe)?
