Hey /fa/, I would like to know some about social "rules" about heels.

What heels can you wear everyday, especially when you're between ages 25 to like 28?
Is there some rules about heel height?
Are plateaus only for clubs/party? Or can you use those for everyday wear as well?
What kind of design is ok for everyday use, are more open designs ok?

For example, pic related, is this only for club use, or is designs like these ok for everyday use (if it had a more conservative band/string style)?

>> No.8894886

Pic related is only clubs. It's not that complicated, look at the shoe design and colors; if it's really loud and/or impractical you'll just look tacky wearing them every day. Heels from 1-4 inches in a muted color OR a bright color as a statement accessory to a professional outfit are a-ok. 3 inch nudes and blacks are considered classics and ok for everyday. Other acceptable colors are lavender, gray and navy. Kitten heels are always fine if you can pull them off.

Mhm... With everyday I meant like when you're going out on you free town, to for example go to a cafée, or to a mall. Not about traveling from home to work and then back. Does the same rules still apply for that usage?

What about designs like pic related? But with a slightly lower heel, and without the excessive pearls or what to call them? I mean, a bit more than just a very plain style, that you displayed in your pic.

How about heels when you go on a simpler date?

And are wedge heels fine for every day use? They look simple enough.

this is /fa/ not how to dress socially acceptable general
basically find your personal style and stick to it whenever you want
especially this pluralistic and globalist age is not one you should care much about dressing in a conformist socially acceptable age.
I would go as far as to claim that there is no way of dressing that is widely acceptable like in older times. the closest thing we have to cultural uniforms is jeans+tee and you don't want to do that do you?
so as a general rule, wear what you like if you have a sense of aesthetics and only conform to dresscodes where it is needed to not cause trouble. like don't wear pic related to work or dress like a homeless when going to the opera.

this is especially true for urban enviroments where a great number of subcultures exist. each group has their own dresscode and dressing that way will yield you acceptance from one group while making another group hate you, absolutely no single safe way of dressing exists within such an enviroment. i failed to mention before you could also identify with a subculture, so it's either that or express yourself in unique way, like don't try hard to be unique but actually project your very own personal feelings towards the world into your style of clothing. be authentic

>> No.8895073

social norms are caused by tradition and tradition has no place in today's culture
wether this is good or bad doesn't matter, it's just how things developed

looks alright
only one tip i have for you, you don't want to wear too extravagant stuff if you can't afford lots of it to switch up often. if you have only a few pieces that are very unique that you wear often they will become a defining characteristic of yours, so simple and modest is the way to go. having a personal everyday uniform only works with simple stuff irl unless you want to be like an anime character, overstylized and defined by how you look

I don't want to join a sub culture, I just want to dress appropriately, but I also don't want to dress all too boring and office workish.

>>8895096
Uhu... But how extravagant can you go without it being too much? Could you give an example of some heels that aren't too simplistic, but does still work for free time use?

as i said, in this age everything is acceptable
what you wear really depends on how you want others to react to you, if you wear something really extravagant everyday for example, it will catch the attention of people who see you the first time and people who see you with it often will get used to it and view it as one of your defining characteristics
if you want go for it, if you want to put something crazy on once in a while when going out thats great, and if you have lots of money to blow you can wear a different crazy fit every time

i can't recommend any heels though, i'm male and never tried any since it looks incredibly uncomfortable, also i don't know how you dress and shoes should fit with the rest with your aesthetic, but i can say all heels you posted look plain enough to be worn every day
>>8894999
i like this one the most, it seems to have a nice shape
also, unless it's something really unique, like pic related (designed by architect zaha hadid) nobody will pay that much attention to your shoes
anyway what's most important is that you like what you wear and have a coherent aesthetic amongst the pieces of an outfit

The most important thing to consider is the long-term effects on your feet, honestly. If these are everyday heels, you want something that is not too angled, distribute weight well, and match a lot of outfits. Look for a neutral heel, 1-2" high, that's either wedged or wide like pic related. Pic related is around 2.5-3", which can be uncomfortable for day to day wear, but the width of the heel is what I'm trying to show.

I'm not like going to spend whole days walking, I'm not going to go to work and spend the whole day in them, like the extent I'd be out would just be a few hours to do things, probably with not all too much standing up. Like my back is probably going to give up before my feet, and the back is more about it getting compressed for a longer time (sitting or standing straight up). I personally find thick heels pretty bad looking, I think I'd want to wear like anything else Instead of thick heels.

Support, support, support. Luckily, kitten and cowboy heels have seen a great revamp in the last few years and it's easier than ever to find lower heights that you can wear all the time. You've got a whole movement of super wearable footwear designers who have a sharp eye for modern, eclectic style, but root it in very practical, sensible constructions.

Oh, like a super laced shoe? I mean, the Louboutin ones are pretty solid. I think the creme de la creme is probably how Alaïa does it.

The key, naturally, is proportion. OP's image has these thick, chunky laces and though the lacing is okay, it doesn't flatter with the barely-there effect you get from the much more delicately crafted Louboutins or Alaïas. I mean, it's pretty unfair to compare $1k handmade stuff to $40 fabric joints, but my point about the importance of line and proportion still stands.

Takes a very specific eye. Too simple and it risks feeling a bit cheap and tacky. Too complicated and it gets gaudy and overblown. Giuseppe Zannoti stuff is about at the VERY edge of being extravagant, but the luxe combination of materials and well-established design signatures roots it in a specific visual language. Personally, I love when the sneaker is used just as a template to show off unexpected textiles, leathers, and detailing. The Marant sneakers are kind of a byword for "fashion sneaker" nowadays, but I think others do them well, too.

In the luxury range, I always like Chloé's takes on them.

In the boutique range, United Nude does a surprisingly smart style called the Play. There's always Ash, but I think that moment has passed and they don't feel as fresh anymore. DKNY's had a recent resurgence in popularity and their accessories line does a decent job balancing their sporty DNA with a more au courant vibe.
