So why do you even /fa/?

Embettering yourself or your image? Insecurity? Lusting them bitches and twinks?

This is a common question in /fit/ but I've never seen it discussed here. Is it because /fa/ is largely less self-conscious? That'd be hard to believe.

I really like this explanation. It's great when something you're planning comes together, but it's also awesome when you stumble upon something unexpected.

>>8892987
Why can't it be both? Sometimes I get sudden inspiration for an idea, but then I try and think what would look best in an equation like way when I get stuck.

>>8892973
At the end of the day, I guess it really comes down to this. Simple answer, yet true.

I come here because for some unknown reason I like the community. But I'm not really /fa/ in real life because I'm poorfag. But I dress the way I dress because I like pretty things and want to make decent arm candy.

>> No.8893081

>>8893062
my biggest concern with that is the personal investment in the tools. In other arts you design the product with your own creations by means of the tools.

In clothing you directly purchase the parts and put them together. In music you only do that in some genres like trance or power metal, and even then you got personalization over the pre-made parts (usually the drumlines in both cases).

Because I enjoy the thrill of the chase. I like hunting down clothes and working them into a nice fit. I won't say anything so pretentious like "I like to make a statement through my clothing", but I like to go outside and wholeheartedly enjoy my own appearance. My like creating my own image, if that makes sense.

The upside is confidence.

how is that surprising to you? people might view themselves as unappealing due to an exaggerated inferiority complex, so they develop a dogma of erasing and obscuring any imperfection on their body. That doesn't just include visible stuff, but also mannerisms, so the go-to is looking away and occupying yourself with something in the distance. i've done it for a while but stopped, realizing that eye contact and clear communication fails less. good or bad, you tend to realize that earlier or later I suppose. not that anon btw.

It's fashion as art vs. fashion as lifestyle. Music is similar, I think.

I listen to a lot of music because I appreciate the sounds, but there are also people who listen to music because it lets them identify with a scene or express who they are.

Of course you can appreciate fashion as both art and lifestyle, just as you can appreciate music on both levels.

why spend a bunch of money and a high end computer, when in 10 years it will be out of date? Why buy a really fast, really expensive car when you should only be doing 60 and youll lose thousands of dollars when you drive it off the lot? Why buy a really big tv when a 20in does just fine?
your argument is flawed OP, saying someones interest is dumb because its expensive it ignorent

at first I thought I was doing it to look good, then I realized I'm actually doing it to be /comfy/ not that I dress palewave or anything, but I've found higher quality clothes make me feel really comfortable and in turn that makes me more confident and outgoing/happy, honestly nothing worse for me than being uncomfortable when it comes to being confident
