Iron Rangers only look like clown shoes if you wear skin tight jeans and have size 10+ feet.

These are fashion boots with thinner, sleeker soles. That keeps them from looking like "clown shoes". Actual work boots have thick as fuck vibram soles that take a lot miles to wear down.

If you want work boots buy Danners, Whites, Nicks, Wesco or Drews. Red Wings are acceptable, but definitely lower quality.

Pretty crappy copy of the various versions that Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, and Givenchy versions that have been done. The plate doesn't line up perfectly and doesn't even appear to be flush. Also, the effect works much better on the low, lace-up brogues that the originals used than this work boot silhouette. The whole idea is to apply an industrial, tough vibe to a shoe that usually lacks it. Here, there isn't the interesting juxtaposition that makes the design work.
