Part 1

Already posted similar list in the last thread.

Microbrands - Ronda quartz, but with sapphire glass - Brathwait (gold plated) and Rossling (white metal of some sort)

Fashion watches - also quartz, one has to check the specs on his own. Some come with mineral glass, all probably won't age very good - would pick scratches etc., also watch purists would look down on you and probably quartz watches in that cases and with that glasses shouldn't cost that much, but fuck that, these look nice: Skagen, Braun, Laco Absolute (unless you go for the mechanical ones), Void, Uniform Wares

Japanese entry level mechanical watches - Orient or Seiko have some more or less minimalist models, but they are probably more on the dress watch size, like Orient Bambino. They have a fuckton of models each, so I just propose to just browse the stores. In my personal opinion, they just don't make watches in this aesthetics and something would always be wrong (from the standpoint of this aesthetic only) - they'd be with fancy applied indexes, or on a bracelet, or have a bezel, or a hole on them to look at the mechanism or whatnot. They make watches which are better than anything from the previous paragraph, just not in this style. I'd be really happy if anyone proved me wrong. One exception would be Riki Watanabe, I believe Seiko makes them or he uses Seiko movements or something like that, these may be similar to what you look for.

Chineese mechanical watches. Sea-Gull, Shanghai, Beijing factory. First, Sea-Gull makes this Nomos/Stowa clone, Rodina. Then there are some dress watches you would probably like. good-stuffs.com AKA Times International offers a curated list of Chineese watches, all seem to have good feedback on watch forums. All pretty affordable, honest mechanical watches of decent quality.

>> No.8801243

>>8801205

Part 2

German watches - Laco, Aristo, Archimede, Zeppelin (meh) or even Ruhla, Stowa. Germans are really good at making minimalist timepieces, for what you have you can probably find something with a quartz movement, Miyota or Ronda. I think some Laco Marines, Aristo Dessau, Laco Absolute or Ruhla or Junkers Bauhaus might match your taste and budget. Of these, Ruhla, Junkers and Zeppelin are cheaper but maybe less reputable than the rest. Proper mechanical watches would be $1000-$2000 - Stowa Antea, Junghans Max Bill, Aristo Dessau or Aristo Modern art etc.

More expensive German watches in similar aesthetics are Nomos and Muhle Glasshute. These would be $2000-$5000, I think. Nomos Tangente or Muhle Glasshute M29 Classic.

Then some Swiss watches. Tissot Desire, some Eterna models maybe, and then there is Mondaine, but Mondaine is minimalist AND ugly.

>> No.8801251

>>8800776
save up a little and get the Nomos Club. I mean you are already almost halfway there and you'd have a super nice watch with a manufacture movement.

>> No.8801255

The style you are looking for is Bauhaus. You might also like something turning up on 'tool watch' or maybe even 'field watch' queries.

I'll also leave this link here: http://www.reddit.com/r/Watches/comments/1w6kpn/summary_of_bauhaus_style_watches/ - you can hate Reddit all you like but this list is very good and you guys have a fucking wiki and it's a shame it's on Reddit not there, so deal with it.

People actually believe this soon-to-be-obsolete brick will upset the luxury Swiss market, as if a Honda Civic will upset Porsche and Maserati. Even in the lower end market, some men just buy watches for their look, feel, and design, not the actual functionality of telling time. How long will the Apple Watch even last as a working tool? It certainly won't be for decades like even a cheapo Seiko automatic can, let alone your luxury Swiss brands, and those even appreciate in value while they literally give iPhones away with contracts.

Look, it's not a watch. I know it's called "Apple Watch", but it's just called a watch because it happens to be worn on your wrist and it can tell time. But other than that they are completely different things. If you think about it as a watch, of course you'll get nowhere. It's like comparing a notebook to, well, a notebook. They are called the same, and they've got obvious similarities, but still, they have different purposes. A smart watch just doesn't need to be made for centuries, why should it? It makes no sense to say "Oh, watches are made to last centuries, but this smart watch will probably cease to work after a few years! It's a bad watch!", of course it's a bad watch, because it isn't a watch. It's like saying "Real notebooks work without any electricity, but this notebook just works for a few hours without electricity! It's a bad notebook!".

I don't know how to explain it properly, whatever, maybe you understand my point.

Nomos Glashutte (which are watch nerd favourites and also "too common" imo and not that much of a step up from an ETA)

And the Frederique Constant Slim-line Moonphase

You might be able to get some kinda other used Omega in there, too
