I have a pair. Easily my best and favorite pair of pants. The dwr is ok, I've had some trouble restoring it all the way though. There's some stretch and the gusset work well. Very comfortable and looks good. I'm a 28 waist, but I had to size up to a 30 to fit my thighs (cyclist). Any other questions?

Recently copped pic related in green. I regret not getting black, but it was sold out.

I can upload one tomorrow as they're in wash atm. The store pics are what the pants look like at their best. The pants don't fit as well for me in the seat and they're a bit long (I'm only 5'7) so I have stacks. Those are just minor things that I notice tho, I've gotten tons of compliments on them, and my GF practically drools over my ass when I wear them.

No, nylon is definitely harder wearing than cotton, but the real advantage is that it'll dry so much faster.

But you should not buy from Proof NYC. Literally in every single aspect a low rent CTRL-V of the Outlier concept. These not particuarly impressive jeans are the first thing they've done that hasn't been an exact conceptual dupe of an Outlier product.

http://proofny.com/collections/bottoms/products/blueprint-denim

Which is sad, because there *shouldn't* be just one company making basics in advanced fabrics. But there's meaningful differences between, say, Lacoste, Sunspel, and James Perse, even though they all produce versions of René Lacoste's original piqué knit cotton tennis shirt, which was athletic wear so cutting edge in its day that polo players promptly jacked it.

We starting to see it some, but more out of athletic brands going fashion than the other way around. For instance, Mission Workshop makes Dryskin slacks now, the Division Chino, with a pocket shape I like better and a concealed zip cargo pocket.

Yes! So goddamn austere, like the fashions of some dreary, haughty technocratic bourgeois. Like these people walk through futuristic arcologies doing nothing besides emanating calm and passionless commands to peons and machines.

Some of mainline Arc'Teryx suffers from the same problem, too, but less so and more often redeemed.

>>8720997
For what application and particular aesthetic? Most contemporary shoe designs are technical already.

Ignore the people saying you shouldn't try to do techwear when you're poor. You can assemble a solid summer tech fit for less than $100 new, to speak nothing of thrift stores, and winter you just need to add ~$150 for insulation.

Lol, why are people so hellbent on insisting that techwear is financially inaccessible?

http://www.patagonia.com/us/product/mens-soft-shell-simple-guide-pants?p=83185-0

Just for a quick example, $99 USD softshell pants from a mid-to-high end outdoor brand.

http://www.rei.com/product/870508/mountain-hardwear-lastrada-tech-pants-womens-2013-closeout#specsTab

Ones on clearance for $58 USD.

I don't have time to dig through Australian sites rn, but seriously, techwear. does. not. have. to. be. expensive.

That doesn't mean there's anything wrong with Acronym or CP Company or anything else at that end of the price range - it just means that capitalism is shit and the poor have to be a little savvier, something relevant but uninteresting always and everywhere, like digestion.

nobody said that

you just have to spend more

just because some other brand shits out uninspired crap in a similar fabric doesn't mean that 'techwear' as we know it can be done cheaper.

when we buy clothes we don't just buy clothes, we buy a product, a complete entity built up on exclusivity, design, image and actual build quality.

if you want to techwear for less, all the power to ya but you're not gonna achieve the same aesthetic you see online

1) You realize you're talking about Patagonia and Mountain Hardwear, right? They're not "some other brand" and it's only "uninspired" insofar as THEY ARE THE INSPIRATION.

2) They're not crap. The Mountain Hardwear design is not to my taste, but you could get a tailor to fix the bootcut easily. Otherwise, they're not terribly different than the Outlier Ladies' Dungarees. Which is better? I could mount an argument for either.

(LD have Nanosphere, the MH has zippers on the pockets.)

3) If you're trying to copy someone else's aesthetic off the Internet instead of developing your own, one that has something to do with you, and with necessity, then you're a fuccboi. Sorry.

>exclusivity

This is pig disgusting, sorry. If there's a single idea underpinning techwear, it's that what you're able to do in the clothes is what makes you interesting. Not what you can cop, what privileged knowledge you come into, or how much you can convince yourself you're better than.

I can't think of a single technically innovative designer who isn't into ideas of democratization and accessibility, even if the constraints of the system means that can't currently be reflected by their work.

Aitor Throup is at G STAR now. Any fuccboi with $100 can stroll down Lafayette Street or order online and be wearing an Aitor Throup directed design now. Get the fuck over yourself.

>I can't think of a single technically innovative designer who isn't into ideas of democratization and accessibility

Okay, brain fart, let me tweak this a little. Frequently, most of them are. But when they're aren't, it's emphatically not a market one except because the market rules everything. Think Jun Takahashi refusing to sell early Undercover to the people outside his friends circle.

It's not democratic or accessible, but it's about actual earned human relations, not capital. Again: if there's a single idea underpinning techwear, it's that what you're able to do in the clothes is what makes you interesting.

most of them are because of the R&D that has to go into it or simply for the fact that they're new companies or simply for the fact that they produce in smaller quantities so of course the cost for manufacturing is going to be more expensive because buying materials in smaller quantities is more expensive.

>>8724918
there are still things that cost money.
any type of extra attention to the sewing/seams whether that be bonding/taping/welding them or constructing the seams anatomically.
plus a lot of things are outsourced and patent protected. lots of membranes are, lots of coatings are, gore-tex sure as hell is.

>>8725699
yes sortof. there are different tiers. some, like patagonia, marmot, etc. is closer to sportswear but yes involves tech and is apparel.
outlier, ministry of supply, etc. is techwear that can be applied to an office setting and slightly improves stuff like movement, breatheability, etc.
and then theres like christopher raeburn, acronym, gyakusou which is very conceptual and more fashion-y.
essentially its a movement to improve clothes through technology and science.

>>8725712
whats wrong w/you???

>>8726062
fun fact: gore-tex has to be approved for use in clothing products. its very tightly closed, controlled system and they have very little competition.
its a widespread rumor that the gore-tex offices/people whoever "they" are, are more lenient in japan which is why you see so much more crazy fashion stuff overthere compared to here in america.

exactly why do asian cities demand a higher level of technical clothing than american cities?

even if your a troll I'm kinda interested to know why

>> No.8730925

>>8730892
he's talking about the aesthetic, and I agree with it, expect that (I've never been to the us but i can guess from what i've seen on photos) american cities like new york are just fine too
it is a style that fits with metropoleis, the technical aspect of the clothing is not meant for practical use but rather reflects the technical progress of large urban enviroments
fashion is always about the context, you'd look like a fool dressed like a farmer in a metropolis' center just as much as you would look a fool dressed in techwear or gothninja style when living in a rural community
that's the reason every person everywhere can be /fa/ as long as they reflect their time and place

posted this in another thread already, but I'm desperately trying to find this pic

Does anyone have that pic of the guy taking a selfie in the black team sesh long sleeve. It had all the old video logos on in and it was a play on the original names, like Greystation, Deadboy, and sesh box.

Also, he was wearing a ski mask/balaclava
