Where can I get Pam 292j in PVD (and a nomos tangente - cant stand the china made on rodina and its logo font) for a decent price (apart from going to china)
Davidsen (familiar name if you're into replicas) has some nice PAMs but a tad too expensive for me.
As for the Nomos tangente, trusty time has some but I'm not to sure if they are like the rodinas (cream dial, concentric sub dial, seagull movement...). The watchuseek thread on rodinas seems to show that the QC is not the same on every Rodina or maybe due to its popularity other factories might try replicating (lol) it.

you can get a homage of that watch for $120, however it is a hand wind watch, meaning you will have to wind it manually every day or two, plus, if you order from this website, despite getting a high quality piece, there are high delivery times, some people have reported over 6 months waits, others just 2 weeks, so depends on how much you want to risk it. However, it should usually arrive within 6 weeks.

technically the term is 'homage' which is just a nicer way of saying you're capitalizing on somebody else's design. it's a widely accepted practice for making a high end watch design affordable, though, and the manufacturers don't seem to mind it.

>> No.8663366

once you start with panerai homages you're hooked, so be careful.

Here's a good place to start: http://forums.watchuseek.com/f71/best-panerai-homage-part-3-a-779017.html

There are a few reputable low budget sellers($70-$150):
manbushijie
jacksontse
getat

google them.

Also Getat is considered the best when it comes to budget, but is the most expensive ($120+). He builds custom watches to your preference, and there are a shitload of custom options. He is the one I linked earlier.

For a first time homage, you'd best get one from the above three.

For those of you who have one of these or the gold version: how's the strap? I'm particularly interested in the buckle (whether it's a pain to hook and unhook) and whether it pinches your arm hair much or not.

>> No.8666528

>>8666454
Adjusting the clasp initially was a little bit annoying, I got a knife an just popped it off to move it. It's pretty easy to clasp on and off and it hasn't fallen off or anything so it clearly does its job.

However, I'm a sand negro with hairy arms and every time I pull it off a few hairs get ripped off. It's not like it hurts too much or anything, but chances are if you have hairy arms you might be subject to this.

I'm not sure if I would buy it again to be honest, It's a nice enough watch but it has always looked cheap to me. But if you have a fit you want to work it into or just really like it, go ahead and give it a shot!

In my opinion, having a more expensive watch means being able to say you're wearing $20,000 as opposed to $200. It's a selfish feeling, but you mentally set yourself on a higher level than everyone else. It's a statement of ones class.

Also more expensive watches usually use nicer parts and a built to a higher quality than less expensive watches.

Instead it's more like a GMT or travel time that displays two timezones but with the functionality of a world timer disc.

It's a great take on the complication and certainly looks and feels good.

My only problem is the horween strap which is already starting to wear. I'm looking at getting a sturdier strap with a bit of colour that will make it look more modern.

You might disagree but you are also wrong. I have a worldtimer that operates just like the VC you just posted but both are equaly aknowledged like true worldtimers. It's the fact that you don't need to previously know the diference between the time it shows and the time you need to know, what makes it a worldtimer.

That doesn't even come close to an hommage, that's just two divers next too each other.
But the same Chinese companies that are making homages are making replica's, no one spends money on tooling for one market when they can just as easily cater to two markets and make more money, those replica brands also employ child labour by children that could have had a brighter more fruitful learning future, not to mention the connecting with gangsters who operate those businesses and partake in illicit prostitution of the children and wives not to mention organ trade. For some it's a cover-up and for some a core business but when you buy a Chinese hommage or replica your are contributing to the sodomofication of underage children stolen from villages.

Replica's and hommages are both bad, they represent the fake imagery propagated by Hollywood culture in an attempt to make more money in a viscous cirle of repition that knows no end apart from illicit doom to us all.

Doesn't affect me. Don't give a fuck. I get my shit. I'm happy with my shit. All's good.

If you honestly think I'll pay 40 times as much for a timepiece just so some faggot in China gets ONE less customer and stops treating people like shit, you're dead wrong.

>That doesn't even come close to an hommage, that's just two divers next too each other.
There are clearer examples, anyway I can assure you that chinese manufacturer aren't the only ones who make hommages.

The differecen between replica and hommage is that a replica uses ilegally the brand to take profit of it and the hommage just uses its design, and, as I said before, a lot of well known brands inspire their designs in other watches designs, there is nothing wrong with it if you don't use the brand ilegally.

I get what you want to say, but making a hommage isn't a bad thing, the bad thing is force kidnapped kids to work, and in this case doesn't mind if they make watches, clothes or chairs.

of course you dont get a similar watch quality when you buy a miyota sub rep for $70
