If you're over the age of 15 then you should probably ditch the skate shoes, skinny jeans, and T-shirts in favour of brogues, classic fits, and button ups.

Thoughts?

I've been doing 'menswear' from the age of 15--though only in dark colours and using slim fits. I got a lot of compliments but i always felt autistic and out of place at social gatherings in my ocbds and slim fit chinos
It isnt a good idea at all. Even now at 19 i rarely go dadcore
Should be 23 minimum

i am just a visitor expressing my view towards that image that caught my eye. It looks so stiffend up and uncomfortable. You can even do high kicks or get groped by a chick in suck pants.
If you're a cowboy or manual worker its cool but for the rest its just what u americans call "square".

I'm a nike shoe wearing, blanco shirt wearing pleb btw

>> No.8664581

everytime someone (sincerely or not) posts bullshit like this, /fa/ gets a little more entrenched in the mentality that menswear is for closed-minded morons

proponents of different styles don't need to fight each other over which is "better"; variety is good, and different people have different taste

>> No.8664595

>>8664557
the issue is that /fa/ is a low-fashion 'streetwear' oriented board. most people here dont have the aesthetics to wear crazy fits, so they just recommend simple things like moderately tapered jeans and plain tshirts.

if you go to /r/mfa it's even worse. they seem to have NO IDEA about their audience so they have people recommending 1200+ dollar menswear boxes to guys with receeding hair that are wearing 2 year old adidas running shoes daily. it's just not correct.

if you want real fashion you can go to modelmayhem or even certain tumblrs and post there, although theres less activity they're full of more edgy people willing to go out of the norm

Sharing your opinions =/= being a cunt about your opinions
sharing your opinions =/= the majority is objectively correct

This is a fashion board. Fashion is a vast culture. You have Japanese fashion, classic fashion, subcultures with fashion. It doesn't mean some things don't deserve to be hated (fedoracore), but in the past year and a half this board has become...close minded I guess. I hate saying that but it is true. We've lost all of our original posters who did interesting stuff. What became a thriving community has become nothing more than a board where people talk about clothes.
>>8664581
>>8664581

These guys get it.
I do agree that /fa/ isn't a high fashion board, and I don't think anyone ever considered it to be in a past. It doesn't mean it has to descend into a cesspit. Maybe that is just what happens as more users come to a board. I've noticed most of 4chan is suffering from this.

I wear visvim boots, earnest sewn custom denim, and bespoke custom harnden shirts. /fa/ would call it dadcore but I look good, I like it, and couldn't give a fuck less that edgy suburban children are too closed minded to like it. I can appreciate streetwear, gothninja, yohji comfy fits, but they're not my style. My style is looking good in the real world, something I'd assume the majority of fa are sheltered from in their parents basements.

Other than that, once you're past your teenage years, you should start dressing in a more mature way. That doesn't mean wearing suits or even button-ups all the time, but it does mean you need to get rid of your more juvenile articles of clothing (e.g., graphic tees, skate shoes, True Religion jeans, Goku shirts etc.).
