I have a question,
Are geobaskets generally shit quality? I know they have beautiful luxury leather and they are nice to look at but I've had Walmart shoes that never had the sole worn this much

>> No.8638938

Do you think that luxury sneaker soles are made of magic rubber that never wears out? The pair in your picture looks like it wasn't taken care of properly. Any competent cobbler could have added some molded rubber to those soles long before they wore through the heels.
Remember kids, take care of your shoes.

maybe he intentionally wore them down like that

>> No.8638973

that's why luxury sneakers are such good conspicuous consumption. you're telling people you can afford to pay more for disposable shoes than they did for their best pair of dress shoes whose soles they can have replaced.

like our society, man

>> No.8638997

people like beat up geos, so that's why these are worn down so much

>> No.8638999

That's the problem with luxury sneakers. I've only owned shoes worth at most 300 dollars (and those were dress shoes) but there is a point of diminishing returns for price and quality.
Reality is clothing will just far apart if you wear it a lot. You can wear something once a year and it'll look pretty new a couple years later, but at the end of it all you paid for nothing more than something to look pretty.

About as good as any other made in Italy sneaker.

Not necessarily. Otherwise people could probably get away with copping all saints and what not. You are still (usually unless you are top fuccboi) paying for a notch above quality, because good designers also want their product to be good. They don't need to put out the same thing twice because the previous collections are still holding up.
It is just there is a certain point where you are totally paying for something to look pretty and be unique because quality plateaus. (Like a lot of rick. Not all of it, but a good amount) Geobaskets fall into that pretty hard because you can only have Rick shit on the material to make it better so many times before it is just some guy shitting on a pair of fucking shoes.

Because you didn't wear them enough. Any shoe will wear down like this if you walk in them far enough.

Your second sentence betrays that you don't know what you're talking about.

What in the hell are you talking about.
Geobaskets hold up and stay wearable for years. The dude that owned the geos in OPs picture probably wore those almost every day for like 2 years. They're beat the fuck up, but that is because the owner beat them the fuck up.

I have a pair of nikes that I've been using for running and daily activities for about 4 months now, and the sole is essentially non-existent now. My geos, which granted I haven't worn DAILY-daily, (but wear them regularly for the past 3 years) are in great condition. Geos have both a wonderful and unique look, but they also can be taken through the ringer and come out fine. And like the other anon said they're not magic, they will wear down eventually.

Yeah you are right, I was just emphasizing the point that Geos may be good, but they still aren't invincible.

lol is that what they call that tissue-thin shit?

>> No.8639821

My friend bought a beat to shit pair of rick dunks in 2008. Took REALLY good care of them, resoled, brought to cobbler, redid a lot of the leather, etc. They look in prime, albeit beat up condition to this day.
