Alright /fa/ I'm looking to get some new shoes. The first pair I'd like to be some Jack Purcells, but I can't decide between white, navy, or black.

The second pair I'd like to be some low top formal type shoe, maybe something like a derby dress shoe; but I have no idea where to start.

Help me /fa/

For the formal shoes; I'd like it to be something I could also wear casually with pants and a t shirt.

Purcells: white is the most versatile, black if you don't want them to look dirty, navy if you wear something other than blue jeans

Second pair depends on your budget, read this to get ideas http://www.tie-a-tie.net/blog/mens-dress-shoe-guide/

Generally, oxfords are the most formal and don't really go well with casual wear esp if they're black. If the eyelets have metal rings on them, don't wear them for formal events. Expect to spend at least $300 if you want menswear blogger approved shoes. Be familiar with quality brands and go hunting on ebay for some factory seconds or used ones for cheaper.

Pic related, they're about $600 new

Those look like shit, I'd rather just have CP derbies

as long as you don't get the crepe sole if you plan on using them as formal shoes

I'd like them to be light, and I'm not looking to buy quality. Mainly just something I can romp around in when I play music on stage that look casual/formal

And I'll be wearing the Purcells with dark khaki, charcoal, and light khaki twill pants.

What are cp derbies? I kinda like these, but I couldn't find them in black.

I guess if your idea of formal is wearing a shirt and pants instead of a t-shirt and jeans, round toe derbies or suede bucks would probably fit the bill. Your local mall stores probably have them, as long as you don't buy from H&M or Topman, they will fall apart after a month or so

Gimmicky. You might as well get Doc Martens 1461 or the Galen model which is the slimmer version
