what do you intend to wear them with? as it is both pairs don't look particularly good, with the bicycle-stitched toes and cheap looking leather with the first one and kind of unusual design with the second. a better idea would be to return those if you can and get a pair of bass penny loafers for a slightly more casual shoe and then a pair of oxfords from somewhere like allen edmonds if you need a more formal shoe.

The store says return policy is "unworn", I wore them like twice, they probably won't notice right? Any advice there?

And thanks, I knew something looked awkward about this shit.

I DO really love the Ethan Allen Nike Air fit and soles though. It's okay to get a rubber sole for everyday shoes with a loafer upper, right? My dress shoes have leather soles but I don't want the stuff I wear 24/7 to make me fucking unable to move faster than a walk without sliding and falling on my goddamn face, function before form.

i'm having a lot of trouble finding jeans that fit properly. my waist is rather small. i wear a size 28 or 29 usually, but whenever the waist fits, the crotch area is painfully tight. naked and famous for example is impossible to wear in any size.

i just want a decent pair of dark indigo denim in a skinny fully tapered fit that is snug on my waist without forcing me to lop off my genitals to wear comfortably. the only jeans i've seen that the sizing and cut looks good on were these wtaps jeans, but im not paying 250 for jeans from a company that doesnt even specialize in denim.

i'd ideally want to pay like 200 at the most.

Total noob to raw denim. Where should I look for when purchasing? W2c good entry level shit for >$100 similar to APC petit standard?

>> No.8618010

>>8617942
Look at the weight of the denim, the selvedge if you're into that kinda thing, the cut (obviously), and the fabric origin.

Heavier weight denim is generally gonna last longer, but fade slower. It's also gonna be hot to wear during warmer months.

Selvedge is common on raw denim, but not a necessary feature. Selvedge is usually an indicator of a quality loom, which means a tighter denim weave (more durable). Watch out for fake selvedge tape on cheap denim to make it look more trendy/expensive.

Lots of raw denim comes in classic straight leg cuts. Many high end raw denim brands do not offer a skinny fit jean and only have one or two slim/tapered models. Designer brands like Dior, SLP, and others have slimmer cuts, but don't have the 'muh god tier raws' aspect that you get from companies that specialize in denim.

Some of the best denim fabric comes from Japan and the US. Cone Mills is regarded as making some of the best denim in the world. Japan is known for its long denim history and the use of high quality vintage looms. There are other countries producing good denim (turkey, I think?), but Japan is considered GOAT.

Some of the best entry level raw denim is from smaller brands and costs around $200. Doubling your price range opens up a lot more options.

APC is more than $100, iirc. Avoid Nudie Jeans because they're notorious for crotch blowouts. 3sixteen, located in NYC, makes excellent jeans for a good price. Ande Whall is a one man operation from New Zealand. He makes fantastic denim, but doesn't do too many raws.

If you want to learn more about raw denim and find some grails, http://www.selfedge.com is a good starting point. Their stuff is generally not entry level, but it gives a good idea of what denimheads value and the detailing that makes Japanese denim so legendary.

>> No.8618022

>>8618010
Adding on that my favorite raws I own are Helmut Lang. People say the brand went to shit after Lang left, but their denim is still excellent made in Japan stuff. Retailed for $350, but I got em on sale for $100. Keep an eye out for sales at places like Barneys or Nordstrom.

got this polo from everlane for work, fits good except for the shoulders. Is it possible to get it fitted so that the shoulders are long as fuck and line up with the end of my actual shoulders?

I used to LOVE April 77's old Joey Colordrive and it was my go-to gray jean when I wore razor thin skinnies. Nowadays, I almost always buy denim from DRKSHDW, but I very much like the colors that Public School does and I believe I've seen them do a gray. Robert Geller also does great, very nuanced colors in his denim like his sepias and dirty blues, but his grays are also great. You can always go basic and find a gray from a denim line like Acne or Nudies or whatever, though.

I'm trying out this suit jacket. Should I keep it and have it altered or return it and get a different size? Is anything off other than the sleeve length?

the oxfords are good for the price, but they seem to be boxy. I threw mine in the washer and dryer and that helped. (5'11, 130 lbs and got a small) Everyone was telling me it was big as shit and I should have gotten the slim fit even though I did. (In a rude way too)
I'd give it a shot regardless, although you might wanna try to size down depending on your measurements.

How exactly is a T shirt supposed to fit? I'm pretty skinny, and I tried going back to an American Apparel t shirt I had that I felt didn't fit.
It feels somewhat snug in the armpits, and when I lift my arms and put them back down, the shirt doesn't naturally fall down past my jeans and I have to help it out a bit. Does this indicate it is too tight?

I'm struggling to find something that is both long and skinny enough.

It would be easier just to get another jacket that fits better and the take it to a tailor so he doesn't have to change so much
